In a bold move against escalating corruption in the country, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder of the Movement for Change, has pledged to establish an anti-corruption Czar with strong prosecutorial powers. Apexnewsgh reports
This initiative is part of Kyerematen’s commitment to combat corruption, as discussed during a meeting with the leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in Accra on Wednesday, 27, 2024.
During the meeting, the independent presidential hopeful emphasized the need to address corruption head-on by amending the Constitution to create an independent anti-corruption Czar. This separate entity would operate independently from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, allowing for unbiased investigation and prosecution of corruption cases.
Highlighting the importance of personal integrity in fighting corruption, Kyerematen underscored his own record of honesty and integrity. “I have never been corrupt and I will never be corrupt,” he declared, expressing his determination to tackle corruption at all levels.
In addition to his anti-corruption agenda, Kyerematen outlined plans for an agricultural revolution in the country. His proposed “Operation Own a Farm” initiative aims to encourage citizens and non-citizens to participate in farming activities, following the example of countries like Botswana where farming is a common livelihood.
Moreover, Kyerematen introduced the concept of “Farm for Life as a Business” initiative, intended to facilitate farming as a sustainable business venture. He pledged government support for this program if elected, emphasizing the involvement of faith-based organizations in promoting agriculture.
Mr. Kyerematen’s vision for addressing corruption and revitalizing the agriculture sector signals a strong commitment to reform and development in Ghana. If elected, he plans to make these initiatives central to his government’s policies to create opportunities for all and drive economic growth.
