Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has officially launched the innovative Kayeyei Empowerment Programme, aimed at training 5,000 head porters across the country. Apexnewsgh reports

This initiative, a promise made by the 2024 NPP presidential candidate in 2019, seeks to upskill head porters, provide transitional job avenues, and improve their socio-economic well-being.

The initial training phase will commence with batches of 600 beneficiaries at Madina and Ashaiman hostel facilities. Each beneficiary will receive a seed money of GHC1000 to support their entrepreneurial endeavors. The programme will provide comprehensive training in various skills, including bead-making, decoration, soap-making, manicure, pedicure, and baking, over a period of six weeks.

The Kayeyei Empowerment Programme is a significant step towards empowering head porters, who play a vital role in our society. By providing them with new skills and entrepreneurial support, this initiative aims to improve their socio-economic well-being and create sustainable job opportunities. The programme’s focus on upskilling and empowerment is a testament to the government’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and prosperous society for all.
