Former President John Dramani Mahama has raised concerns over the recent accident on a new railway line during a test run. Apexnewsgh reports
The incident, which occurred at 12:10pm on Thursday (18 April), involved a train colliding with a stationary vehicle on the track.
In a statement released by the Railways Ministry, it was revealed that the accident happened at Km 76+100 during the test run. Despite the immediate application of the emergency braking system, the train was unable to stop in time before hitting the vehicle.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the passengers on the train or bystanders. However, there was some minor damage to the driver’s cab section of the train.
Former President Mahama has questioned why the Railway Ministry would conduct a test run on a new line without first conducting a track inspection.
This incident has raised concerns about safety protocols and procedures being followed.
