Mr. Atangiba Shakiru, better known as Tempane Boy, the Director of Operations in the Upper East Region for Team Kennedy Agyapong, has expressed his unwavering confidence that their Presidential candidate, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, will not be swayed by any amount of pressure to withdraw from the upcoming party presidential contest on November 4th. Asking whether, there is a likelihood that Mr. Agyapong with back down from the November 4th Presidential contest, the Upper East Regional Deputy Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party told Ngamegbulam Chidozie of Apexnewsgh.com during a phone interview that his Candidate is unshaken with his decision.
“As for Kennedy what I know is no matter what, he is going for the Nov 4th elections. When we met, I asked him, if he is going to taste the waters, and he told me categorically that he is not going to taste any waters and he is not going to back down for anyone”.
Shakiru who is noted as very strong politician with his strategic campaign style worked so hard for his candidate Mr. Agyapong in the just ended super delegate conference especially in the Upper East Region.
A total of 36 delegates voted in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) super delegates primaries in the Upper East Region.
They are to elect five Presidential candidates to contest in the November primaries of the party.
The figure comprised of all the Chairpersons of the 15 constituencies, 17 Regional Executives, two council of patrons, one Regional Minister and one Member of Parliament.
In the Upper East region, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won 31 out of the 36 votes cast, securing approximately 86 percent of the votes. In an unexpected turn, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, received 3 votes, while former Trades Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen managed to secure only one vote. Unfortunately, the remaining 7 contestants did not receive any votes.
The upcoming party congress is scheduled to take place on November 4.
