Opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Electoral Commission (EC) of colluding to manipulate the 2024 election outcome. Apexnewsgh reports
Mahama claims the NPP, aware of their impending defeat, is working with the EC to engage in gerrymandering and transfer votes to their strongholds in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions.
The EC’s last-minute decision to exclude political party agents from the voter transfer exercise has sparked concerns of foul play. Mahama believes this move is aimed at aiding the NPP’s parliamentary fortunes, which they hope to leverage in the presidential election.
The NDC leader has vowed to prevent any attempts at electoral manipulation, stating that his party has evidence of the NPP’s plans to transfer thousands of votes from their strongholds to offset the NDC’s gains in controlled constituencies. Mahama expressed confidence in the Ghanaian people’s decision to vote out the current government due to economic mismanagement and corruption.
He challenged the EC leadership to remain impartial and ensure a free and fair election. The NDC has instructed its members to continue observing the transfer process, determined to prevent any electoral malfeasance.
