Mahama Appoints Committee to Organise National Education Forum

President John Dramani Mahama has taken a significant step towards enhancing Ghana’s education sector by appointing an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum. Apexnewsgh reports

This move fulfills his pledge to engage stakeholders in shaping the future of education in Ghana.

The committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has been tasked with developing a comprehensive plan for the forum.

Other members of the committee include Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., Professor Smile Dzisi, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.

The committee’s terms of reference are extensive and include:

– Developing a Theme and Sub-Themes: Identifying key areas to guide stakeholder engagement
– Stakeholder Identification: Inviting students, parents, teachers, researchers, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to participate in the forum
– Activity Agenda: Creating a schedule with thematic breakout sessions, plenaries, and other activities
– Venue and Date Proposal: Selecting a suitable venue and date for the forum
– Secretariat Setup: Establishing a secretariat to document activities
– Budget Provision: Providing a comprehensive budget for the National Education Forum
– Comprehensive Report: Developing a detailed report on the forum’s findings and recommendations
– National Education Policy Framework: Drafting a policy framework and proposing an action plan for implementing recommendations within three weeks after the forum

The committee has two weeks to submit its report and plan, and their work will be instrumental in shaping the future of education in Ghana.
