Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader, has called on Barker-Vormawor to present proof of the alleged bribery claims made against the Appointments Committee. Apexnewsgh reports
Ayariga’s statement comes after Barker-Vormawor alleged that he was offered a $1 million bribe by the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, to stop his activism.
Ayariga emphasized that the Appointments Committee operates with integrity and that no nominee is required to pay money to secure approval.
He questioned Barker-Vormawor’s claims, asking what personal knowledge he has to share on the allegations. Ayariga also noted that with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holding a majority in Parliament, there is no incentive for such payments.
Ayariga explained that unless a nominee faces a serious petition or credibility issue, they are almost certain to be approved. He encouraged anyone with credible evidence of wrongdoing to present it, reaffirming his commitment to transparency.
While expressing skepticism about the allegations, Ayariga remained open to further investigations. “I have not seen it. So I’ll be surprised if he comes up with anything tomorrow. I’ll be surprised. But we encourage every other person to come forward if they have evidence,” he said.
