In a surprising move, Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, Director of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), has decided to voluntarily return a parcel of state land he unlawfully acquired. Apexnewsgh reports

This development was revealed by private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu during a telephone interview with Channel One News’ Hanson Agyemang.

According to Kpebu, Quaicoe personally contacted Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, chairman of the government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), to communicate his decision. The parcel of land in question is located in the agri-mechanisation lands area, opposite the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Kpebu highlighted serious irregularities surrounding the rezoning process, describing it as fundamentally flawed. He explained that the rezoning exercise was illegitimate due to procedural lapses, including the lack of involvement from Parliament.

Quaicoe’s decision to return the land is seen as a positive step towards accountability and transparency in the management of state assets. ORAL, established by President John Dramani Mahama on December 18, 2024, aims to recover state properties and assets unlawfully taken by individuals, especially during past administrations.
