This initiative is part of the government’s broader private sector empowerment strategy to tackle unemployment and stimulate economic growth.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah emphasized the administration’s commitment to engaging the private sector to enhance economic development. “We will hold consultations with businesses across various sectors and grant concessions to enable them to thrive and create jobs,” he stated.

In a related development, First Sky Group, a diversified Ghanaian-owned conglomerate, has unveiled plans to construct a 200-megawatt renewable power plant in northern Ghana. The project, being developed in collaboration with Bui Power Authority, is expected to complement ongoing energy initiatives aimed at enhancing Ghana’s power supply.

Executive Chairman of First Sky Group, Eric Kutortse, confirmed that the initiative is 65% complete and set for completion by the second quarter of 2025. “This project will significantly contribute to Ghana’s energy sector,” he assured.

First Sky Group’s commitment to economic transformation is evident in its various subsidiaries, which employ over 3,800 workers across the country. The group’s growth from a three-employee company in 2002 to a workforce of over 1,200 permanent staff and 1,700 casual workers is a testament to its strategic role in Ghana’s renewable energy, construction, and financial sectors.

President Mahama’s job creation initiatives, as outlined in his manifesto, include a 24-hour economy, women’s development bank, national apprenticeship program, and digital jobs initiative. These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to driving economic growth and reducing unemployment.
