As the December 2024 general elections approach, the spotlight is on three leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who are all cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament. Apexnewsgh reports
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong have emerged as potential candidates for the vice-presidential role on the NPP ticket alongside presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
These three prospective running mates are all Christians from the southern part of Ghana. Their selection would uphold the NPP tradition of maintaining a Christian-Muslim balance on their presidential ticket in past elections.
The NPP has historically featured candidates from the North and South regions, as well as from Akan and non-Akan backgrounds.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the youngest at 51, has a diverse background in security, intelligence, politics, and business leadership.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, 56, is a medical doctor with a long history in the NPP.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, turning 60 in April 2024, holds a Ph.D. in education and has experience in the US education system.
Each candidate brings unique qualifications and experiences to the potential vice-presidential role.
The final decision will be closely watched as the NPP aims to uphold its traditions while presenting a strong and balanced ticket for the upcoming elections.
