Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on African leaders to demonstrate strong collective will and take decisive action to ensure the successful implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Apexnewsgh reports

Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD 2025) in Accra, Ghana, Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that AfCFTA presents a transformative opportunity for Africa’s economic growth, but its success hinges on the commitment and collaboration of all stakeholders.

Addressing over 4,000 delegates and more than eight Heads of State, Opoku-Agyemang stressed that policymakers, business leaders, and development partners must prioritize cooperation, share ideas, and work towards the seamless integration of African economies.

She identified key areas that require attention, including:

Eliminating trade barriers: Removing obstacles that hinder the free flow of goods and services across African borders.
Enhancing infrastructure: Investing in transportation networks, energy systems, and digital infrastructure to facilitate trade and economic growth.
Investing in digital connectivity: Leveraging technology to bridge the gap between African economies and promote seamless integration.

Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that a fully operational AfCFTA would not only boost intra-African trade but also drive industrialization, create jobs, and position Africa as a competitive global economic powerhouse. She urged all stakeholders to collaborate and exchange ideas to push Africa closer to a fully integrated market.
