The Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency Edward Bawa has lamented, that the current hardship under the watch of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has rendered hard workers useless to the extent, that they can no longer afford food for their families. Apexnewsgh.com report “We are in very serious times, we seem to be making jokes out of the problem that we have and until you lead individuals, you will not know how serious it is. Throughout my life I have known people who never in their life call me Eddy.. charlly it is hot today ooo, if you have this amount give it to me because I can’t make it and these are people throughout my existence and throughout the period I have known them, they have never asked me for a favor because they are capable of taking care of themselves and their families but now, these same people simply cannot make put food on the table. Not because they are lazy, not because they have refused to work harder, but just because the system will not reward them for the hard work they put in. that is exactly where we found ourselves in. We have people who could afford three meals a day and now even one meal they have to negotiate with their family, there are people whose jobs have messed up and they have no job to do”. Adding to his earlier observation, the MP Said: “I know a number of people in Accra who have decided to park their cars because they cannot buy fuel and not because they are playing politics” he pointed He was speaking at a TEIN induction programme organized by the youth wing of the party at the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) which was covered by Apexnewsgh.com. NDC Youth ‘buga’ office properties over replacement of Northern NDC acting Regional Chairman
Barely a week after the death of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Northern Regional Chairman, members of the party have since activated an internal party war amongst themselves following the appointment of a successor. According to information gathered by Apexnewsgh.com, Mr. Adolf Ali is a Regional Vice Chairman of NDC in the Northern Region and he was endorsed by the party functional committee to continue overseeing the party affairs till an election is conducted to elect a Regional Chairman. But the aggrieved youth of the party who were sighted vandalizing party properties in a viral video and as well shooting numerous gunshots argued that Adolf is not the party’s first vice chairman and does not merit the acting regional chairman position. They argued, that Rufai Vellim, who is the first vice chairman, should be the rightful person to occupy such a position in the absence of their regional chairman. However, even though there were some party members at the party office at the time of the attack, they were able to escape without being hurt. Go back home and help in re-organizing the party–Ebenezer Ndebilla Alumire to BTU TEIN
Members of the Tertiary Education Institutional Network, (TEIN), and a youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been tasked to go back home and help in re-organizing their various districts and constituency level. Apexnewsgh.com report Former NDC aspirant for the position of Member of Parliament at the Zebilla Constituency, Mr. Ebenezer Ndebilla Alumire gave the advice when speaking at a welcome ceremony for new members of TEIN in the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Advising the freshers, Ndebilla Alumire: “As an intellectual wing of the party, what we need to do is to go back home and help in re-organizing the party because that is very key”. “In fact, as a student myself in 2008 at KNUST, I became an agent in the first round of the election and that was where I realized that having educated ones serving as agents at the polling stations helps a lot”. He recounts He narrated how they were able to protect about 280 people from not voting. He said that is a clear signal that if the party does not support members to do the right thing, the party will always do the right thing and get the wrong result. Meanwhile, advising those in leadership, the former aspirant appealed to the party leadership and those elected in positions not to turn their back on the members in times of need. “And again, as we are leaving here, I want to also urge our leaders which am also aspiring to be one that, we should not forget our students, let’s us not forget about them. At this particular moment, this is a time we need them and we come to them, this is time we are putting a lot of pressure on them to do A, do B, and do C then when we get power sometimes, some of us turned our back on them. So, I want to now say let us remember our students when we get power, let us pick up their calls when they call us, and let us attend to their school fees needs if it is possible. So, my plea to you is to work very hard as the party comes to power come 2024 you will be rewarded bountifully”. Alhassan Bashir Fuseini popularly known as Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region
If you take a flute to blow your achievement, someone will use a whistle to blow your deficit A.B.A Fuseini mocks Akufo-Addo’s govt
Alhassan Bashir Fuseini popularly known as Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region has told the Governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that with the current hardship bedeviling the country if they like, they take flute to blow your achievements, someone will use a whistle to blow their deficit. Apexnewsgh.com report Mr. A.B.A Fuseini punch the governing New Patriotic Party on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) while addressing newly inducted TEIN student members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Addressing freshers of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) TEIN members, the Sagnarigu legislator said: “I can say without any iota of hesitation that NPP today is like a house that is collapsed and you don’t ask whether the roof is still standing. Like you said earlier, if one dies in the market, there is no need of announcing his or her funeral. It is clear that the country today is waiting for the NDC to come back and rescue this country under His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. “Today as we speak, Ghana has acquired an enviable status as the riskiest country to lend money to. Recently, if you look at the rating agencies, Ghana has been downgraded to CCC+ negative outlook, indeed what the international community is telling us is that our economy is a junk and you know what a junk means”. He further pointed “As we speak today, there is a huge revenue shortfall from government, from the 2020 budget when they estimated about 14.6 billion and if you cannot match your revenue to expenditure, you are going to develop a deficit and this NPP government has run a deficit under the ages of 4th Republic and still getting worse”. He stressed Meanwhile, talking about the country’s inflation, the MP described it as the highest in many decades one can think of. “If you look at our inflation today, which measures the changes in the price of goods and services, is the highest in many decades you can think about. Officially, we are supposed to be doing about 32 inflation but unofficially from the people that go to the market every day, we are totaling around the 40s and 50s”. “If you look at the exchange rate, just two days ago, the dollar crossed a Ghc 10.00 mark”. “You see, my brothers and sisters, if you take a flute to blow your achievement, someone will use a whistle to blow your deficit” He concluded. NDC will not ask you to bring English and Mathematics for recruitment anymore, NPP has shown us the way–NDC MP
Mr. Abed-Nego Bandim Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunkpurugu Constituency of the North East Region has assured party youth that the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not ask them to bring English and Mathematics before offering them job opportunities in any of the security agencies. “l am saying that, when we come back to power, we will not also ask you to come with English and mathematics, that is false. If the NPP can recruit people from the circle who repair mobile phones, we can recruit our TEIN members to wear uniforms as well”. stressed The Bunkpurugu Member of Parliament made the pronouncement on Saturday, August 20, 2022, when addressing fresher students of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) and party youth at the occasion of TEIN induction. Mr. Abed-Nego said, when the NDC comes to power in 2025, they will not forget about the youth. Because they are not in normal times. He added: “The NPP has shown us the way”. Referencing his experience of what happened during the Ayawaso Wuogon by-election, he stressed: “It is time to look for our own. When they molested us in Ayawaaso during the bye-election, and they killed our youth in the general election in Techiman South, I said to myself, these people wearing Police and Army uniforms and shooting our people were not people with English and Mathematics, they were just ordinary Ghanaians NPP foot soldiers. So why can’t we do so to our people? l am saying that, when we come back to power, we will not also ask you to come with English and mathematics, that is false. If the NPP can recruit people from the circle who repair mobile phones, we can recruit our TEIN members to wear uniforms as well”. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson tipped to replace ‘Literature Prof’ as Mahama’s running mate over economic crunch
Calls are increasing for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to re-consider and choose Cassiel Ato Forson, an expert finance guru representing the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency in the Central Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as replacement for his Central Regional counterpart Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang in 2024. Forces within the party are reportedly mounting pressure on the top hierarchy to ensure the former deputy minister for Finance is picked to partner defacto flagbearer for the 2024 election John Mahama with the deterioration of the country’s economy. While Unibank founder and former Central Bank boss Dr. Kwabena Duffour was said to have stood a better chance, his internal contest against Mahama will hurt his chances, sources told this portal. A key member of the National Executive Committee of the NDC told MyNewsGh.com the party may have to change Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang and consider someone with economics or finance background giving the current challenges of the country. He however explained that” changing her will not be easy because she is also fighting underground”. Asked who could be considered for her replacement, the source mentioned Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as someone whose name has come up strongly from across all the discussions, and especially because he hails from the same region the 2020 running mate hails from. “With Cassiel Ato Forson, Central Region will not feel NDC took them off the ticket and you have someone who can answer to the current economic challenges. You know, all what is happening now in the economy, Dr. Ato Forson foresaw it and kept warning. He has national credibility on the economy. “ “The attempt to woo women vote with our selection of Prof did not work as we projected. Maybe if she is given a chance again, she can prove herself but 2024 is too critical for another lottery because we can’t lose to NPP again.” Many people have accused Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang of not adding anything new to the NDC in 2020 and believe 2024 could even be worse for the NDC if she is maintained on the ticket. She is a Professor of Literature and an award-winning academic who became first female running mate. The source intimates that other possible names that could be considered included Eric Opoku, a former Bono Regional Minister and Agriculture expert; Alex Mould, energy and finance expert who is a former GNPC CEO; Kingsley Kwame Awuah Darko, a private businessman and former CEO of BOST and TOR; Mawuena Trebarh, a trade and investment expert if the candidate insists on a woman and Dr. Kwabena Duffour if the flagbearer insists on him. However, the source said Dr. Ato Forson’s choice is stronger. Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has been a Member of Parliament since 2009 and is currently the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament. He served as the deputy minister for Finance from 2013 to 2017. During the time, he served as a member of Ghana’s Economic Management Team also served on several boards including that of the Bank of Ghana and Ghana Cocoa Board. He was also Ghana’s Alternate Governor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. His expertise were also brought to light when he chaired the Committee that implemented the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System Reforms (GIFMIS). He obtained a PhD in Business and Management (finance option) in September 2020 from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. Prior to getting the doctorate, the MP had two master’s degrees: A master of Science in Taxation from the University of Oxford, UK and another Master of Science degree in economics from KNUST. He had his first degree in accounting at the South Bank University in London. Dr. Forson is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants,Ghana and a fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation. Change running mate Months ago, election expert and pollster, Ben Ephson suggested that former President John Dramani Mahama must consider a new running mate if he wants to succeed in becoming President again in the 2024 general elections. His advice followed a EIU forecast on Ghana. According to the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, the 2022 presidential candidate will have a better chance if he abandons Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate. “Mahama would have to repackage himself because a Mahama with the same running mate is going to be difficult. He may have to form an alliance or perhaps, pick one of the six [NDC presidential contenders] as his running mate. “Because where Mahama is, he has the advantage of being marketed already. And Mahama with all his body language looks like retaining his running mate for 2020. If he does, I think he should forget 2024,” Ben Ephson told Asaase Radio in an interview. Already, a five-year forecast by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is tipping the NDC to return to power at the end of the 2024 general elections. According to the EIU report, ongoing public dissatisfaction with the slow pace of improvements in governance such as infrastructure development, job creation, and easing of corruption will push the electorate to seek a change in the 2024 general elections. While the predictions appear to be in favour of the NDC, the EIU adds that there would be a better chance if the largest opposition party presents a different candidate as flagbearer other than ex-President John Dramani Mahama. President went to Akayet Hotel to dance off the disgrace he witnessed in the region–NDC Communicator
A member of the National Democratic Party (NDC) Communication team Isaac Ayemvoa Atambila has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region for not showing any meaningful project during the President’s recent visit on Friday, August 5, 2022. The Communicator sighted the Katanga Agenda 111 as an example. As part of President Akufo-Addo’s itinerary for his one-day tour to the Upper East Region, he was supposed to visit Katanga a community in the Bolgatanga East District just after commissioning the Tono water expansion project in Navrongo. But sadly, it appears President Akufo-Addo’s mood automatically changed immediately after he arrived at the site scene and saw what looks like foundation-level work already done by the contractor in charge. However, the already organized durbar to welcome the president was brought to a standstill and he immediately turned his car and left the scene. Meanwhile, the NDC Communication team Isaac Ayemvoa Atambila revealed, that after the afternoon drama at the site scene, the President went to Akayet Hotel to dance off the disappointment he met in the region during his visit. “The road minister Kwasi Amoako-Attah that day was his birthday and he celebrated it at Akayet Hotel and a lot NPP functionaries and the President were there dancing. The President was really there to dance of the shame”. The NDC Communicator stressed, insisting that the NPP has nothing to offer the people of Upper East. Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana
Compound houses will be paying industrial charges because their consumption will be so high–Former Binduri MP alleges
Former Member of Parliament for Binduri Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem has revealed that government is not interested in considering the welfare of the poor masses when increasing Electricity and Water Utilities for consumers. He alleged that compound houses will be paying industrial charges because their consumption will be so high. Apexnewsgh.com report The PURC on Monday announced new tariffs for electricity and water utility consumers to pay 27.15 percent more for electricity and 21.55 percent more for water effective September 1. Unfortunately, this announcement has received some backlash from the public particularly the Minority in Parliament who say that the new tariffs will further aggravate the already high cost of living for the ordinary Ghanaians. Meanwhile, giving his response on the new tariffs for electricity and water utility consumers, Mr. Baba Kuganab-Lem pointed out that what government is not aware of is that, is not everybody has a meter. To him, in some compound houses, people have to share one meter and then divide the cost because they can’t afford following the recent hardship. The former MP revealed that every month what is going to happen is that compound houses will pay industrial charges because their consumption will be so high that they think there is a factory in that house. “So, before you make such increment, you must segment our population such that those who are very poor, who just want one bulb in their room don’t pay as if they have that one bulb in the city”. “You must segment your population and know the population that are living before below the poverty line paying very little as compared to those living in East Legon and in other places”. He stressed Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana
Dr. Bawumia won us 2016 and 2020 election–NPP Council of Elder
A Member of the Upper East Regional Council of Elders of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Robert Ajene has said, without Dr. Bawumia in the 2016 and 2020 elections NPP would have found it difficult to win. Apexnewsgh.com report The member of the Regional Council of Elders told Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen during an exclusive interview that, in the 2012 election petition, “it looks like Bawumia won the case for New Patriotic Party (NPP)”. He added: “Even though nationally they say security wise he couldn’t turn over, all those talking about the NPP having a tradition that allows them alone to become Ghana President were all sitting there in isolation and no one heard anything about them. Mr. Ajene described Dr. Bawumia as a proficient excellent performer. He said: “Everybody in the NPP will agree with me that in the 2016 election, in the 2020 election minus Bawumia, NPP would have found it difficult to win”. “If you think of the others, you cannot mention one critical thing that is substantive to merit even saying you want to be a president. As for Bawumia, he has made it already and people know. He stressed Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana/Ngamegbulam Chidozie
