JUST IN: NDC to expand Nsawam prison for NPP corruption officials– Abraham Lambon

The Upper East NDC’s Regional Youth Organizer, Abraham Azumah Lambon has hinted that with the amount of corruption witnessed in the Akufo-Addo-led administration, if the National Democratic Congress is given the mandate by Ghanaians in 2024, Nsawam Prison will be expanded to accommodate ex-corrupt government officials. Apexnewsgh.com report Speaking at the TEIN induction ceremony of level 100 students of Gbewa College of Education he said, “For you to say you are fighting corruption, you must have to fight your own. Under His Excellency John Dramani Mahama”. According to Mr. Lambon, the NDC prosecuted their own, a seating MP Mr. Abuga Pelle, insisting that Philip Akpeena Assibit is still in prison because he engage in some aspect of things that were detrimental to the development of the country. “So, NDC we believe in fighting corruption, we believe in creating a just society for everybody to benefit and so stealing the wealth of today which is vanity because we will die and definitely leave it. Just like Seth John who accumulate much wealth and today he is no more and he is willing it forever, we in the NDC will not do that. We will ensure that the wealth is distributed as a social democratic party that believes in the ordinary, the vulnerable”. He stressed However, he maintained that “for those who have looted the money the jail is waiting for them, Nsawam Prison will be expanded. Nana Addo claimed he was going to fight corruption and he is not fighting corruption”. Now, the evidence available shows the President is amplifying corruption. So, we will start from the Presidency to ensure that any person who has spent one cedi of Ghana money is made to account and pay for the whole sum with interest and after that Prison will be a place for such person”. However, he encouraged the newly inducted level students to take their studies serious. The Member of Parliament for the area Hajia Laadi Ayii Ayamba, Party men and women from both Regional, constituency, and national were present at the induction ceremony. Dr. Bawumia’s carpenter explanation that generated controversy

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana and his interesting reaction to Ghanaians blame on him and his government failure leading to International Monetary Fund (IMF). According to the Vice President, “If you ask a carpenter to roof your house and suddenly the roof collapses without any wind or rainfall, will you not blame the carpenter who did the roofing? He added “But if a carpenter roofs your house and the roof collapses because of a tornado and a storm which has also blown away the roofs, windows and walls of many houses, will you blame the carpenter?” Source: Apexnewsgh.com

Ghanaians now know the difference between Akufo-Addo and JDM– Casper Kampoli

The Upper East Regional Deputy Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Casper Sunday Kampoli has said, God wants the people of Ghana to know the difference between Akufo-Addo governance and the governance skill of John Dramani Mahama.Apexnewsgh.com report Speaking to Apexnewsgh.com on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the Deputy Communication Officer said, the perception from those who conclude that the Akufo-Addo government is facing obstacles because he and his party didn’t win a genuine election in 2020 may not be entirely wrong but adding that he is unable to confirm that because he lacks spiritual prowess. “I am not a spiritualist, am not able to tell what has caused the misgovernance and the things Akufo-Addo and ministers are going through. But we wish to believe that, if the good lord blesses your actions, it should go well, but if the good lord doesn’t bless your action, it means it will definitely have obstacles on your way”. “So, because of how they won the election, some people may conclude that because the election was not genuinely won that is the way they are finding it difficult to run the country. But we are of the view that for whatever reasons, anything that happens, happened for a good cause. God wants things to happen this way that is the reason why it happened that way in 2020”. He stressed “John Dramani Mahama once leaving office in 2016 says, posterity will judge him, he is leaving office and Akufo-Addo and his people should manage the country, the people will judge and is becoming obvious. John Dramani Mahama’s governance is unparalleled. He gave good leadership, he cares, he was honest and sincere”. John Mahama welcome Prez. Akufo-Addo IMF move say is belated

I welcome President Akufo-Addo’s decision to formally engage the IMF with the view to entering into a programme under the Fund. Though belated, it should mark an important step towards addressing the dire economic situation, which has left Ghanaians wallowing under intense suffering and hardships. Beyond the announcement of engagement with the IMF, a comprehensive home-grown programme should be fashioned out and presented to the Fund for support. It is imperative that a team of skilled and competent negotiators is put together to obtain the best set of measures with the Fund. The Finance Minister who has supervised the disastrous collapse of the economy cannot and should not be part of the team of negotiators. He has lost credibility and the trust and confidence of stakeholders in our economy. President Akufo-Addo must take a bold decision to replace his finance minister immediately with a more assured and competent person who is willing and able to work tirelessly to turn our almost hopeless situation around. In addition, given his obvious failures, the Vice President must be relieved of his responsibility as Chair of the Economic Management Team to enable the President to reconstitute the team. We must draw useful lessons from this episode and avoid cheap politicking with the economy; that can only yield the disastrous outcomes that have brought us here. Source: apexnewsgh.com

The skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy–Amb Boniface Gambila

The Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso His Excellency Boniface Gambila has stressed, that in today’s Ghana the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has the skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy. Responding to the cry of Ghanaians with regards to hardship and high cost of living coupled with the slogan BREAK THE 8, Amb. Gambila said: “People shouldn’t be blackmailing that we can’t break the 8, that slogan breaking the 8 is saying that, if we continue to be voting in NPP for only 8 years, then we say that things are hard, let’s vote NDC for another term. Momentarily, people feel the pitch and they think that those who couldn’t do it can do it. And that is why I began by saying, if we change a government today, it will be the same. they will come and battle with it”. “But if you look through, the ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy even to the level that it is today is in NPP. The skills, the competencies are in the NPP. Because with all the global comparisons, Ghana is still standing tall, Ghana has been seen to perform well in the means of all these difficulties”. GHS175m Nestlé plant opened by President Akufo-Addo

On Wednesday, 8th June 2022, I commissioned the GH¢175.4 million state-of-the-art plant of Nestlé Ghana, located in Tema, which is manufacturing infant cereals for the domestic market, as well as for markets in other countries in Central and West Africa. This investment by a major multinational company does not only underscore the confidence that Nestlé and its shareholders have in the Ghanaian economy, but it is also a signal to the global business community that the Ghanaian economy is recovering to its pre-COVID-19 levels. I don’t make promises I can’t keep – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said he does not make promises he cannot fulfil. He made the comment when he cut sod for the construction of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences (UEAS), in Bunso, in the Eastern Region on Friday, 20 May 2022. It will be recollected that in this year’s message on the State of the Nation to Parliament on 30 March 2022, President Akufo-Addo indicated that steps were being taken to turn the planned Bunso campus of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development into a standalone, independent University dedicated to the study of Engineering. “I also indicated that construction of this campus will begin within the next three (3) months. As you already know, President Akufo-Addo does not make promises he cannot fulfil and I am happy that we are all gathered here at Bunso to cut the sod for the construction of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences, which will be a Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Built Environment,” the President said. Addressing the gathering, which included the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, President Akufo-Addo stated that the world, as we know it, is essentially driven by technology. He stated that energy, industry, agriculture, medicine and health, clean air and water, transportation, sanitation, the use, management and conservation of natural resources – all are based ultimately on science and technology. “So, it is obvious that to be a part of this modern world, there must be science and technology elements at all levels of the development process. This means that a country’s development depends on its ability to understand, adapt, produce and commercialise scientific and technological knowledge in ways appropriate to its culture, aspirations and level of development,” he added. This, he explained, will help shape the fulfilment of the national dream, “which is to meet basic challenges of survival, such as providing food, shelter, clothing, health and security for the people, and creating the wealth that will guarantee the prosperity of present and future generations”. The President noted that, over the last five years, his government has increasingly implemented initiatives and programmes rooted in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), with the goal being to ensure a target of 60:40 science-humanities ratio, and also educate a critical mass of the Ghanaian population for science-related jobs, which will define their future employability. “I am, thus, happy to note that this year’s enrolment of TVET students in Senior High Schools has reached record levels – forty-four thousand (44,000) students, representing a one hundred per cent (100%) increase over the 2021 enrolment figure. Our Gross Tertiary Enrolment Ratio, measuring enrolment in tertiary education, regardless of age, expressed as a percentage of the population, which stood at 18.8% as of 2021, has increased significantly to 20% this year,” he added. UEAS When completed, the President stated that UEAS will be the second public University in the Eastern Region, which will focus on satisfying human resource demands from domestic industries. “The establishment of this University is also part of the government’s response to the current national preoccupation with food security. The University will provide leadership in teaching, research and public outreach across a number of fields, and will help address problems that affect our food security, and enhance future competitiveness of Ghana’s industries in a sustainable manner,” he added. The President thanked the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea for providing the ninety-million-dollar (US$90,000,000) facility for the construction of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences, Bunso Project. He urged the stakeholders – the Ministry of Education, the contractors and consultants, amongst others – to work within schedule and budget. President Akufo-Addo also used the occasion to express the sincere appreciation of the government and the Ghanaian people to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea for their continuous cooperation with Ghana and assured them of Ghana’s determination to deepen and expand the bonds of friendship between the two countries. “Osagyefo, Nananom, I am excited to be here once again, and, by the grace of God, I will be here again, in twenty-four (24) months’ time, to commission the University of Engineering and Agricultural Sciences. And I have the great honour and pleasure to cut the sod for the commencement of its construction,” the President concluded. —classfm

NDC commends the Methodist Church Ghana for….

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commended the Methodist Church Ghana for distancing themselves from what they described as an unprovoked attack launched on His Excellency John Dramani Mahama by one of their own the Rt. Rev. Stephen R. Bosomtwe Ayensu, a past Methodist Bishop of the Obuasi Diocese. Read the full statement below: PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: 10th May, 2022 NDC COMMENDS THE METHODIST CHURCH GHANA. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has become aware of an official Press Release issued by the Methodist Church Ghana in which the church has distanced itself from the conduct of one of its own, the Rt. Rev. Stephen R. Bosomtwe Ayensu, a past Methodist Bishop of the Obuasi Diocese. It would be recalled that only a few days ago, the Rt. Rev. Stephen R. Bosomtwe Ayensu, launched an unprovoked attack on His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, over his recent pledge to ensure the immediate repeal of the unpopular E-levy law when the NDC assumes the reins of Government. This latest attack forms part of a litany of vitriolic attacks launched by the same man against the National Democratic Congress and leading figures and functionaries of the party. One of such attacks for instance was his unfounded claim that Former President Mahama and the NDC would cancel the Free Senior High School policy in the event the party won the 2020 General Election. We wish to state that at no point did the party or its leadership assume that the church lent its support or endorsement whatsoever to the regrettable conduct of the Rt. Rev. Bosomtwe Ayensu who often took advantage of the noble platform offered him by the church to engage in scurrilous attacks on leading figures of the NDC as though he was on a political campaign platform. The NDC wishes to reaffirm its cordial working relationship with the Methodist Church of Ghana which has been a worthy partner in our democratic and developmental journey as a nation. Indeed, several leaders of the NDC have been and are still devout members of the Methodist Church. Notably, President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, both of blessed memory were members of the Methodist Church in good standing until their passing. Similarly, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang who is the immediate-past Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the NDC in the 2020 General Election is also a member of the Methodist Church. The party hereby assures the Methodist Church that we shall continue to hold the church in high esteem as a strong pillar of development in the areas of education, health, among others in our dear country, as we have trusted the church to remain a non-aligned stakeholder, a neutral arbiter and the moral compass of our society. SC throws out Minority’s injunction against E-levy with 7:0 decision

The Supreme Court has in a 7:0 decision thrown out the Minority’s injunction against the implementation of the 1.5 percent E-levy. The Supreme Court in its ruling today, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, ordered the Ghana Revenue Authority to keep accurate records of all e-levy deductions to enable a refund to payees if it is later determined that the law was passed unconstitutionally. The Minority caucus in parliament petitioned the Supreme Court for an order of interlocutory injunction to prevent the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government through the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) from commencing with the implementation of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) on the 1st of May 2022. The plaintiffs were noted to be the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga and North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. However, in the court today, the court composed of Nene Amegatcher as President, Her Ladyship Mariama Owusu, His Lordship Professor Ashie Kotey, Her Ladyship Getrude Torkornoo, Her Ladyship Lovelace Johnson, His Lordship Emmanuel Yony Kulendi and Her Ladyship Professor Henrietta Mensah Bonsu said the Republic would suffer a great deal if the government is temporarily stopped from deducting the levy from electronic transactions.
