Mr. Abed-Nego Bandim Member of Parliament (MP) for Bunkpurugu Constituency of the North East Region has assured party youth that the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not ask them to bring English and Mathematics before offering them job opportunities in any of the security agencies. The Bunkpurugu Member of Parliament made the pronouncement on Saturday, August 20, 2022, when addressing fresher students of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) and party youth at the occasion of TEIN induction. Mr. Abed-Nego said, when the NDC comes to power in 2025, they will not forget about the youth. Because they are not in normal times. He added: “The NPP has shown us the way”. Referencing his experience of what happened during the Ayawaso Wuogon by-election, he stressed: “It is time to look for our own. When they molested us in Ayawaaso during the bye-election, and they killed our youth in the general election in Techiman South, I said to myself, these people wearing Police and Army uniforms and shooting our people were not people with English and Mathematics, they were just ordinary Ghanaians NPP foot soldiers. So why can’t we do so to our people? l am saying that, when we come back to power, we will not also ask you to come with English and mathematics, that is false. If the NPP can recruit people from the circle who repair mobile phones, we can recruit our TEIN members to wear uniforms as well”. President went to Akayet Hotel to dance off the disgrace he witnessed in the region–NDC Communicator
A member of the National Democratic Party (NDC) Communication team Isaac Ayemvoa Atambila has criticized the governing New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region for not showing any meaningful project during the President’s recent visit on Friday, August 5, 2022. The Communicator sighted the Katanga Agenda 111 as an example. As part of President Akufo-Addo’s itinerary for his one-day tour to the Upper East Region, he was supposed to visit Katanga a community in the Bolgatanga East District just after commissioning the Tono water expansion project in Navrongo. But sadly, it appears President Akufo-Addo’s mood automatically changed immediately after he arrived at the site scene and saw what looks like foundation-level work already done by the contractor in charge. However, the already organized durbar to welcome the president was brought to a standstill and he immediately turned his car and left the scene. Meanwhile, the NDC Communication team Isaac Ayemvoa Atambila revealed, that after the afternoon drama at the site scene, the President went to Akayet Hotel to dance off the disappointment he met in the region during his visit. “The road minister Kwasi Amoako-Attah that day was his birthday and he celebrated it at Akayet Hotel and a lot NPP functionaries and the President were there dancing. The President was really there to dance of the shame”. The NDC Communicator stressed, insisting that the NPP has nothing to offer the people of Upper East. Source: Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana
NABCO, Teacher trainees, nurses, lecturers, journalists, public sector workers are suffering–Prez Akufo-Addo told
“Almost everybody is feeling the brunt of the current economic hardship driven mainly by food inflation, high fuel prices, callous taxes among others. It goes without saying that parents and households are suffering, public sector workers are suffering, teachers are suffering and teacher trainees are suffering. Nurses are suffering and nursing trainees are suffering. Lecturers are suffering and students are suffering. Market women are suffering and drivers are suffering. NABCO trainees whose fate is unknown are suffering. Police officers are suffering. Even you journalists are suffering and all Ghanaians are suffering- all because of the bad leadership of the Bawumia-led Economic Management Team”. The National Communications Officer of the biggest opposition party, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, said at a press conference on Wednesday, 3 August 2022 in Accra. Read Full Details: A PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE NDC ON WEDNESDAY, 3RD AUGUST, 2022. THE AKUFO-ADDO/BAWUMIA GOVERNMENT MUST ADDRESS WORSENING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IN THE COUNTRY NOW! Good afternoon, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen of the press. We graciously welcome you once again to the Headquarters of the National Democratic Congress, as we consider it another privileged opportunity to engage with you on issues of concern to our nation. As always, we are grateful for the continuous collaboration we enjoy from you in the fourth estate of the realm and we consider you very valuable partners in our collective quest for accountability and good governance. Our engagement with you today will focus on the ever-worsening living conditions of the Ghanaian people and the insensitive handling of same by the duty bearers of our country. Friends from the media, you would all agree with me that we are not in normal times in Ghana and that all of us assembled here today, including you in the media are finding it difficult to live your normal lives. Indeed, it is more difficult to hew water out of a rock or perhaps for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle, than for one to make ends meet in Ghana today. However hard you try, or have mastered the art of living, the economic realities of Ghana today will certainly overwhelm you. Cost of living today is unbearable, leading to many individuals and households going hungry, broken marriages and many falling further below the poverty line. Cost of doing business has gone off the roof, leading to the suffocation of many businesses. The point has to be made here ladies and gentlemen, that general hardships per se are not a new phenomenon in our country. However, the current economic hardships Ghanaians are experiencing today are unprecedented in their scale, and unbearable in their impact. Today, the Consumer Price Index which is the barometer for measuring inflation or changes in the prices of goods and services, and all other known economic indicators point to the fact that we are not in normal times. Yet, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumiah government, is not minded to provide relief for the suffering masses. Government has neither demonstrated any sensitivity towards the Ghanaian people who are at the receiving end of this intolerable hardship, nor shown any acumen or ability to ameliorate the untold economic hardships. Alas, to borrow the words of one of Africa’s famous novelists, Chinua Achebe, the center cannot hold, things continue to fall apart, as continuous economic hardship is unleashed on the Ghanaian people on a daily basis. Distinguished friends from the media, at this juncture, it bears painting a picture of the current state of our economy in order to put the issues into their proper perspective. I therefore invite you to come with me on a journey of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia economic reality of today. HIGH INFLATIONFriends from the media, the most reliable indicator of the average change in prices of goods and services over a period of time is the rate of inflation. As we speak, inflation rate which stood at 15.4% in December 2016, has galloped to a whopping 30% as at June 2022. This inflation rate is the worst in the sub-region and in fact the worst inflation rate Ghana has recorded in the last nineteen (19) years. One would have thought that this mid-year period would have at least presented Government with an opportunity to take steps towards arresting the ever-rising inflation rate we are currently experiencing. Sadly, however, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta only last week presented the 2022 Mid-year budget Review Statement to the august House of Parliament in which he projected an end of year inflation rate of 28.5%. What this means is that, President Akufo-Addo and his vice Alhaji Bawumia, ably supported by their Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, have given up on arresting the current trend of inflationary pressures and have instead thrown their hands up in despair. Simply put, the suffering and excruciating economic hardships we are reeling under will continue to persist for the rest of the year with no end in sight. To be projecting an end of year inflation rate of 28.5% under the current rebased economic regime underlines the crass incompetence, cluelessness and uselessness of the Economic Management Team chaired by the Vice President, Alhaji Bawumia. Sadly, while the Akufo-Addo government continues to pay lip service to this problem of rising inflation, it is at the same time offering very little in terms of leadership, vision and proactive steps to address the push factors of inflation. Friends from the media, it is trite knowledge, even to the uninitiated, that the main factors pushing up inflation and to a large extent, the economic hardships we are experiencing today, are the exchange rate, fuel prices, payments, among others. A government’s handling of these three (3) things largely influences its ability to stabilize inflation, improve general economic wellbeing, among others. And so, to these factors, we now turn attention. FUEL PRICESDistinguished men and women of the inky fraternity, fuel price hikes today have become a frequent occurrence, with prices going up at the pumps
Just In: President Akufo-Addo expected in Upper East on 4th August
According to the Upper East Regional Communication Director for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Ayinbisa, if nothing changed as planned, President Akufo-Addo will be in the region on August 4, 2022. He said President’s scheduled visit is a resumption of his regular regional tours to engage people and also have accurate information on happening on the ground. However, according to the Regional Communication Director, the President has scheduled to be in the region on the 4th of August and on the 5th of August, he is expected to commission a rice factory project in Fumbisi and after that, will be holding a mini durbar of chiefs and the people of Fumbisi and later proceed to Navrongo and also have a mini durbar with the chiefs and the people. The President’s coming to the region came when a lot of citizens questioned what the government has offered the people of the Upper East. During Apexnewsgh.com exclusive interview granted to the Executive Director and founder of Sirigu Women’s Organisation for Pottery and Arts (SWOPA) Madam Melanie Kasise, she appeared specific by asking President Akufo-Addo to come and see his people in the Upper East Region. JUST IN: Statue of more resemblance of late President Mills has emerged
The former Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency Dr. Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem has said a bolga based artist has in his possession a statue of the late president Mills which has more resemblance to the late President than what was seen at the Asomdwee Park. Apexnewsgh.com report According to the former MP, the nice-looking burst was built in Bolgatanga way back in 2016 in honor of the late former President Mills after some young men in Bolgatanga came together and decided that, following his decent and exemplary life he lived there was the need to form an Atta-Mills Virtues Club to look critically at his life and then establish critical values he stood for and let these guide their daily lives and that these values will also permeate this generation and generations to come. The John Evans Atta-Mills 10th commemorative lecture was held in memory of the former President as part of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of his death. The organized J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage lecture was on the theme: “The man John Evans Atta Mills – Ten years on”. However, the 10 years of remembrance of the late former President did not come without any controversy surrounding it.As Mr. Koku Ayidoho former deputy national secretary of the NDC at a time was busy refurbishing the Asomdwee Park in honor of his former boss, it appears the family of former President Mills has no official knowledge about Koku Ayidoho’s plans for the anniversary. The head of former President Mills’s family believes Mr. Ayidoho only used the so-called refurbishing to promote themselves and their institute and to promote their paymasters. Another aspect that has generated controversy, was the burst built by Mr. Koku Ayindoho and the government in honor of the late President Mills. The statue has received a lot of criticism from some Ghanaians because the name of the late President Mills was missing from it. Meanwhile, just a few days after the 10 years anniversary of the passing of the former late President Mills, The former Binduri MP Dr. Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem has challenged the quality of the statue produced by Mr. Ayidoho and the government in honor of his late boss. Dr. Kuganab-Lem holds the view that the statue is not a true representation of the former president and should be replaced with the burst in bolga. Source: Apexnewsgh.com
Do everything possible to pay NABCO beneficiaries–NDC MP
Madam Laadi Ayii Ayamba, Member of Parliament for Pusiga Constituency in the Upper East Region has added her voice for government to pay the aggrieved NABCO beneficiaries 9 months’ stipends owe them. Apexnewsgh.com report For over 8 months now, graduates under the government flagship programme NABCO have not received their monthly stipends from their employers. A situation that has caused some of these beneficiaries to die out of frustration and hardship. However, the Member of Parliament for Pusiga Constituency Madam Laadi said: “We already told those in NABCO that this government cannot be trusted, is an issue of trust. They came and they said they were paying each one Ghc 700.00 and today it has become a sham. What they have forgotten is that these are people who are not employed at all, even their daily needs like soap, paying of a water bill, light bills, eating and even transporting themselves to the workplace, the government has forgotten about it”. According to her, they as members of the opposition want the government to pay these beneficiaries and maintained them as they earlier assured in the past. “So, for us, we have continuously said they should do everything possible to pay them. They should pay them, they have worked. We are not blaming those working, they needed the work and they have been given”. She spoke to Apexnewsgh.com. Bawumia’s claims of digitizing Ghana are false, since 2007 Ghana was digitized–George Banbilla Azungah
A leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Pusiga Constituency Mr. George Banbilla Azungah, has said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot claim the credit for Ghana’s digitization. Mr. Azungah made the remark on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the induction ceremony of the level 100 students of Gbewa College of Education in Pusiga of the Upper East Region Region. Addressing the newly inducted TEIN members Gbewa campus chapter, Mr. Azungah asked the student to ignore the almighty touted digitization claim by Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. According to him, as far back as 2007, he worked with VRA/NEDCo as the IT manager and they had digitized their billing system, and even digitized their pre-payment collection system such that, even MTN or Vodafone couldn’t penetrate their system. He encouraged the TEIN members to put more interest in IT because he believes with IT, the NDC will win the 2024 elections, if they are able to collate their results securely from all their branches to the strongroom in Accra. He added: “What happened to us in 2020 was because, before we could say jack, they have hijacked our network”. He laments Touching on the current state of the economy, Azungah said Dr. Bawumia claimed they had a solid team and the solid team took Ghana into an ambulance. “ “We needed a focused and transformational leader who can transform our economy for us. But sadly, the Bawumia solid team has disappointed us”. He said teachers in society are very important because they trained all the prominent personalities across the country and must be taken care of. Adding that unfortunately, today under the Akufo-Addo Administration teachers are rather dying because of hardship. “Initially Bawumia said teachers are suffering, nurses are suffering. Now teachers are dying, nurses are dying we are not suffering again, we are dying”. He mocked However, he admonished the newly Inducted TEIN members to contribute their quota by way of speaking to their parents and friends to know that in terms of good and quality leadership, NDC is far better ahead than the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). JUST IN: NDC to expand Nsawam prison for NPP corruption officials– Abraham Lambon
The Upper East NDC’s Regional Youth Organizer, Abraham Azumah Lambon has hinted that with the amount of corruption witnessed in the Akufo-Addo-led administration, if the National Democratic Congress is given the mandate by Ghanaians in 2024, Nsawam Prison will be expanded to accommodate ex-corrupt government officials. Apexnewsgh.com report Speaking at the TEIN induction ceremony of level 100 students of Gbewa College of Education he said, “For you to say you are fighting corruption, you must have to fight your own. Under His Excellency John Dramani Mahama”. According to Mr. Lambon, the NDC prosecuted their own, a seating MP Mr. Abuga Pelle, insisting that Philip Akpeena Assibit is still in prison because he engage in some aspect of things that were detrimental to the development of the country. “So, NDC we believe in fighting corruption, we believe in creating a just society for everybody to benefit and so stealing the wealth of today which is vanity because we will die and definitely leave it. Just like Seth John who accumulate much wealth and today he is no more and he is willing it forever, we in the NDC will not do that. We will ensure that the wealth is distributed as a social democratic party that believes in the ordinary, the vulnerable”. He stressed However, he maintained that “for those who have looted the money the jail is waiting for them, Nsawam Prison will be expanded. Nana Addo claimed he was going to fight corruption and he is not fighting corruption”. Now, the evidence available shows the President is amplifying corruption. So, we will start from the Presidency to ensure that any person who has spent one cedi of Ghana money is made to account and pay for the whole sum with interest and after that Prison will be a place for such person”. However, he encouraged the newly inducted level students to take their studies serious. The Member of Parliament for the area Hajia Laadi Ayii Ayamba, Party men and women from both Regional, constituency, and national were present at the induction ceremony. According to the Vice President, “If you ask a carpenter to roof your house and suddenly the roof collapses without any wind or rainfall, will you not blame the carpenter who did the roofing? He added “But if a carpenter roofs your house and the roof collapses because of a tornado and a storm which has also blown away the roofs, windows and walls of many houses, will you blame the carpenter?” Source: Apexnewsgh.com
Ghanaians now know the difference between Akufo-Addo and JDM– Casper Kampoli
The Upper East Regional Deputy Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Casper Sunday Kampoli has said, God wants the people of Ghana to know the difference between Akufo-Addo governance and the governance skill of John Dramani Mahama.Apexnewsgh.com report Speaking to Apexnewsgh.com on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the Deputy Communication Officer said, the perception from those who conclude that the Akufo-Addo government is facing obstacles because he and his party didn’t win a genuine election in 2020 may not be entirely wrong but adding that he is unable to confirm that because he lacks spiritual prowess. “I am not a spiritualist, am not able to tell what has caused the misgovernance and the things Akufo-Addo and ministers are going through. But we wish to believe that, if the good lord blesses your actions, it should go well, but if the good lord doesn’t bless your action, it means it will definitely have obstacles on your way”. “So, because of how they won the election, some people may conclude that because the election was not genuinely won that is the way they are finding it difficult to run the country. But we are of the view that for whatever reasons, anything that happens, happened for a good cause. God wants things to happen this way that is the reason why it happened that way in 2020”. He stressed “John Dramani Mahama once leaving office in 2016 says, posterity will judge him, he is leaving office and Akufo-Addo and his people should manage the country, the people will judge and is becoming obvious. John Dramani Mahama’s governance is unparalleled. He gave good leadership, he cares, he was honest and sincere”.
