IMF: Cathedral, NABCO, FSHS, Ex-Gratia in shamble as IMF conditions demands….

The much awaited International Monetary Fund (IMF) has finally landed to dying Ghana economy with several conditions to enable them gain access to loan to regain the economy from a very critical state. However, as these conditions as anticipated by many Ghanaians, these conditions will go along way affecting average Ghanaians as most of them may see us loose several interventions that have us since the Akuffo Addo led new patriotic party came into power.  The conditions include the immediate resolution of the free senior high school policy which was started in 2017 by the new patriotic party after winning the 2016 general election. The IMF believes Ghana’s economy is not at a state to render free senior high school education with several sectors on their needs. Also, the resolution of the nation builders corps since a chunk of money is used to pay several semi employed youth in the economy whose take home salary isn’t anything to talk about. It suggests that the government redirect these amounts in to the construction of more factories and job creation interventions to reduce the unemployment rate. Meanwhile, the IMF sees no reason why a country running to it would prioritize the construction of a cathedral among other pressing needs such as constant floods in the capital and increasing prices of foodstuffs in various markets across the 16 regions of Ghana. The IMF will also want the President to cut down on the size of the government especially the number of ministers. Ghana currently has over 82 ministers and this number takes on ton of money of the national coffers. The International Monetary Fund will also want to see the government abolish the ex gratia system which leases out huge amounts of tax payers money to past presidents and ministers of states who were duely paid during their tenure and had proper retirement packages made for them. These are but a few directives the financial organization will require from Ghana should it happen to grant us a loan to salvage our economy from its knees and getting back on its feet. Many Ghanaians are also against the decision by the government to run to the IMF to ask for another loans despite taking several loans within its 6years in power . Ghana’s current debt sits at about $54 billion which constitutes over 7000% of the country’s GDP. Apexnewsgh.com

We’ve got to back, to pay the party, motivate the ground, energize the base and then get serious”.  Mr. Superior further said: “I feel sad and sick and I want to cry, because this party was built on certain clear values liberty, diversity, democracy, transparency honesty, and truth. And we have to be honest with our party. Are we keeping those values? If you allowed somebody to buy your votes. If someone gives you Ghc 5,000,00 and you vote for the person and really don’t think that this person is going to do a good job, what are you to the party? You are becoming a danger to the party. So, people should just disregard this, is not going to help you. Is it a deliberate attempt by those buying the vote to try and cease this party and make you useless and weak, so that, next time they can come back and buy your vote? In the last five years, the current executive officers of the party have abandoned this party and have abandoned our constituency executives. They don’t come here, they don’t come to the constituencies, all over the country, they don’t talk to our party people, and they don’t even identify themselves with them”. “Today, we are having an election, and their assistant and their agents are regularly calling these people they rejected and abandoned several years ago. So, what are you telling us? They think that we are unintelligent, they think we are stupid and they think they can come again and tell us stories”. He stressed However, the party is going to the polls on July 15-17, 2022, to elect their national party executives. John Mahama welcome Prez. Akufo-Addo IMF move say is belated

I welcome President Akufo-Addo’s decision to formally engage the IMF with the view to entering into a programme under the Fund. Though belated, it should mark an important step towards addressing the dire economic situation, which has left Ghanaians wallowing under intense suffering and hardships. Beyond the announcement of engagement with the IMF, a comprehensive home-grown programme should be fashioned out and presented to the Fund for support. It is imperative that a team of skilled and competent negotiators is put together to obtain the best set of measures with the Fund. The Finance Minister who has supervised the disastrous collapse of the economy cannot and should not be part of the team of negotiators. He has lost credibility and the trust and confidence of stakeholders in our economy. President Akufo-Addo must take a bold decision to replace his finance minister immediately with a more assured and competent person who is willing and able to work tirelessly to turn our almost hopeless situation around. In addition, given his obvious failures, the Vice President must be relieved of his responsibility as Chair of the Economic Management Team to enable the President to reconstitute the team. We must draw useful lessons from this episode and avoid cheap politicking with the economy; that can only yield the disastrous outcomes that have brought us here. Source: apexnewsgh.com

The skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy–Amb Boniface Gambila

The Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso His Excellency Boniface Gambila has stressed, that in today’s Ghana the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has the skills, competencies, and ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy. Responding to the cry of Ghanaians with regards to hardship and high cost of living coupled with the slogan BREAK THE 8, Amb. Gambila said: “People shouldn’t be blackmailing that we can’t break the 8, that slogan breaking the 8 is saying that, if we continue to be voting in NPP for only 8 years, then we say that things are hard, let’s vote NDC for another term. Momentarily, people feel the pitch and they think that those who couldn’t do it can do it. And that is why I began by saying, if we change a government today, it will be the same. they will come and battle with it”. “But if you look through, the ability to provide the leadership and manage the economy even to the level that it is today is in NPP. The skills, the competencies are in the NPP. Because with all the global comparisons, Ghana is still standing tall, Ghana has been seen to perform well in the means of all these difficulties”.
