A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region and a Regional member of the communication team Daniel Animah has said the opposition NDC doesn’t have the locus to criticize one of their flagship policies One Village One District (1V1D).
According to Mr. Animah, the NDC as a party has stayed 8 years in power without offering the people of the Upper East Region even a single dam, stressing that his district alone benefitted 10 of the dams.
He spoke on the Apexnews Ghana programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST” on Monday, September 12, 2022.
“ Many of the dams have been completed, as to whether it serves the purpose or not, it depends on the village by village. My dam is serving a good purpose, dry season people use them for dry season gardening, people now have access to water for their livestock, people now have access to water to mold their blocks and build their mud houses, and people have access to water now to even wash their stuff. In my community, for instance, every year we cry about the same thing, since the construction of the dam in our community, livestock thievery has stopped unlike before. These days, you hardly hear that people’s animals have entered inside the bushes in search of water. It is one of the dying needs of the people of Zua and is serving its purpose. For other areas, I can’t speak to that.
I know about 10 dams in Nabdam which are also serving the purpose. But one question we should be asking ourselves is, If NDC had even constructed one in Nabdam, we will not be where we are, we would have only come to add up. But for your whole eight years, the NDC did not construct a single dam in Nabdam and a government has come and has been able to construct 10 regardless of the size, I think it is worth commending.
The amount involve could have been constructed as vea dam as the NDC wants us to believe. So, we should be realistic, sometimes we are quick to judge because is coming from the government
