The government must cheap politics and address the Western Togoland issues adequately -Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa
Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu Constituency Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said government has failed Ghanaians by not showing any good interest in dealing with the recent threats of secessionist groups in the Volta Region. Mr. Ablakwa made the remarks in an interview with Accra based Citi FM monitored by Apexnewsgh.com. According to him, the government and the ruling party are rather engaged in “cheap politics” instead of acting conclusively on the matter. The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu at a press conference on Monday, September 28, 2020, said it expects the NDC and the other political parties to condemn the recent disturbances caused by some persons believed to be members of a secessionists group in the Volta Region. But Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said, the call by Mr. John Boadu is needless and untrue especially as the NDC had already done that earlier. “It was in January this year, and we publicly denounced and condemned the activities of these separatists.” Ablakwa further added that residents in his constituency, which also experienced the chaos created by the group, are currently living in fear. “What has happened in my constituency, we are all living in fear. Never in the history of my constituency and our region has a police station been overpowered where police officers are overpowered and rather put in cells and suspects freed. Never have armories been broken into,” the legislator said. Members of the secessionist group, Homeland Study Foundation, on Friday, September 25, 2020, blocked major entries into the Volta Region. The action is said to have taken place at dawn, leaving travelers to and from the Volta Region, particularly areas such as Tefle, Tsopoli and Juapong stranded. The group reportedly burnt vehicle tyres and took control of two police stations, freeing suspects and taking weapons from the armory. And also at dawn on Tuesday 29th September 2020, a group of people suspected to be members of the separatist group advocating for independence from Ghana for the Western Togoland state has attacked the State Transport Corporation (STC) in the Volta Regional capital, Ho, and set ablaze some of the buses. One person was later reported dead while security officials were firing guns to try and restore order to the area. 31 peoples have been arrested in connection with the incident have since been charged and currently being held in custody. Meanwhile, the police have given assurances that they are in control of the situation and will do their best to arrest the rest of the perpetrators of the crime to ensure that they face the law. I STARTED SMOKING AT AGE 6, WEE IS MY FOOD AND EVERYTHING – KING AYISOBA
Ghanaian traditional musician, Albert Apoozore, well known as King Ayisoba, has revealed that he started smoking marijuana at a very tender age. He told ZionFelix in an interview on the ‘Uncut’ Show that he began smoking marijuana otherwise known as ‘wee’ at the age of six (6). The ‘I Want To See My Father’ composer averred he has a taste for weed and he has not encountered any problem since he started using it. He believes his blood is compatible with wee-and it has been a constant substance that he uses. However, King Ayisoba disclosed that alcohol is not his favourite as marijuana. He explained that he only takes drinks with a small percentage of alcohol but weed, on the other hand, is his everything. The popular traditional musician argued wee does not make people suffer mental challenges. He, however, advised people to stop consuming it if it is not compatible with their blood. He disputed that alcohol, most especially; ‘akpeteshie’ – a local alcoholic drink – has negative health implications more than wee. NPP government cares for the poor than NDC- Patrick Seidu
The Deputy CEO for Northern Development Authority (NDA) Patrick Seidu has activated his campaign support for the Tempane Member of Parliament cum Deputy Attorney General Joseph Kpemka. On Monday, September 28, 2020, Mr. Seidu a host of other party notable personalities in the Tempane enclave to sell government achievements so far in and outside the Constituency to the people. Giving his speech at the campaign gathering on Monday, the Deputy CEO admonished residents of Tempane Constituency to do a comparison of the Akufo Addo -Bawumia led government and 8 years of NDC, to know the government who cares for the poor. “Compared to the NDC government to the NPP government as to which of them seeks to help the poor.” He sighted Free SHS as an example of having the poor at heart. According to Mr. Seidu, when the NPP came out with the FSHS Policy, the opposition NDC kicked against it emphasizing that the policy won’t be possible unless after 20 years, stressing that the Akufo Addo-Bawumia government has made it possible. He further sighted the availability of fertilizer which is sold at a good price as another wonderful proof of a government that cares for the interest of the ordinary Ghanaian farmers, unlike the NDC period when it was difficult and very costly for the ordinary farmer in Tempane.
