Broni confirmed District Chief Executive with 34 votes endorsement
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the East Gonja Assembly Mr. Ricahard Broni, has been confirmed by the assembly members. Mr Boni was confirmed when he obtained 34 ‘yes’ votes from the Assembly members on Monday, 22 November 2021. His nomination followed the two-time rejection of Mr. Mohammed Tamimu by Assembly members. A statement signed by the Minister of Local Government, Mr. Dan Botwe, directed the Savanna Regional Minister to “liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executive.” The confirmed MCE, who is a trained teacher from Kalande in the East Gonja Municipality, was among the 24 aspirants for the MCE position. Mr. Broni was the headteacher for Salaga Presby Primary in the East Gonja Municipality till he joined a non-governmental organization, FHI 360, on their USAID Ghana Partnership for Education learning project in 2017, as the Regional Training and Coaching Coordinator for the Northern Region. UER: Man butchered uncle to death, dumps dead body on the road
According to a report by Gaspard Ayuureneeya sighted by Apexnewsgh.com, a 33-year-old Alukre Baba Ibrahim and his girl lover Firdaus (a 26-year-old seamstress) are currently standing trial in a Bolgatanga magistrate court for allegedly killing a 55-year-old Abokum-Ayamga Abolga. The victim on November 10, 2021 met his horrific death when he was butchered with a machete following a misunderstanding between him and the suspect over a parcel of land. The suspect who is a mason in Yorogo community of the Bolgatanga municipality is said to have advanced in a deal in selling off a parcel of land to buy a motorbike for his girl lover , but a misunderstanding ensued between the two . The deceased who is an uncle to the suspect was said to have been severely butchered to death on the spot in his house at Yorogo in the Bolgatanga municipality of the Upper East Region. After killing his uncle, the suspect carried the corpse on his shoulder and dumped it on the road to fake a road traffic accident scene. In an attempt to burn the blood-stained shirt used by the suspect at the time of the act so as to cover-up, Firdaus was arrested. She has since been charged with abetment of crime, while Alukre Baba Ibrahim has been charged with murder. Lawyer for the suspects is against the arrest and charge levelled against the second suspect. He told word news that she only came into the scene after the crime was allegedly committed and was only instructed to burn the shirt and as such has not abetted in any way. Lawyer Tahidu Lawal through the court requested that his clients be handled with dignity devoid of torture while in remand. They have since been remanded into police custody as police requested for more time to conclude investigations. They are to re-appear on November 29. NDC Youth Wing Rejects 2022 Budget
To The Ghanaian Youth, Times are really hard, especially for the Youth; there is no better way to put it. The 2022 budget presented by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta earlier this week failed to address some of the existential threat facing young people and our determination to rise up from poverty through hard work and enterprise. Like many of you, we are alarmed and disappointed that such a heartless budget will be presented by the New Patriotic Party government, after all preparing a budget is one of the most basic responsibilities of any government. But it appears no innovative and critical thinking went into the preparation of this budget, thus falling short of addressing our needs as a people. More importantly, for the Youth of Ghana, this budget was far from our reality, our hopes and aspirations. Reading the entire document, one cannot ignore the singular theme that reflects in those hurriedly written lines; the hardheaded and irresponsible posture to the plight of the Ghanaian people. It is not surprising how Ghanaians have responded to the thoughtless budget presented for the 2022 fiscal year, and rightly so because the scourge of this budget will be borne by the people. Everywhere, when budgets are presented, it inspires hope amongst the masses, as it offers government’s thoughtful and considerate blueprint to alleviate the suffering of the people and improve on the socio economic wellbeing of the masses. What our finance minister presented is far from that and a direct ‘insult’ to the Ghanaian people especially our industrious young people. To our young people, you are right to be disappointed in the budget presented for the FY2022 as it does not include a comprehensive plan to create jobs for the many young people out of school without jobs, vocational or professional skills in this hardened economy. In the absence of creating jobs and equipping you with the right skills to be employable, this administration must not look to further burden you with more inconsiderate policies that will make life more unbearable for us. Government has no justification whatsoever on the position it has taken. We empathize with you and oppose vehemently these new taxes and increases in some levies as well government fees. We recognize that Majority of entrepreneurs who rely on electronic payments to run their businesses are young people and this draconian tax will adversely affect you. Thus the proposed 1.75% levy on electronic payments will be counter productive. We are sorry that this government, under the guise of widening the tax bracket is oblivious to our plight as young people and has resorted to taxing every service that makes our lives easier. Rest assure that we stand with you on this, we will oppose this! While this government has failed you, we ask that you do not give up especially on your dreams even in these hard times. We have requested through Leadership that the Minority Group in Parliament works to reject the budget in its current form. Every NDC MP will be committed to this course earnestly. Any other outcome will be ab inconvenienti. In the spirit of camaraderie, we will also be presenting a petition to parliament on why the Youth of Ghana is against the 2022 budget. It is our firm belief that everyone, on both sides of the House must work together to reject this budget as it is antagonistic to the Youth of Ghana. There is the need to increase government’s revenue but it is a lame approach to tax almost every service and product that is used by young people to achieve that. Government must find a way to patch up the revenue loopholes and come up with an innovative way of effectively collecting taxes. It is their responsibility to implement the right stop-gap measures and comprehensive plan to generate more revenue rather than resort to a tax driven agenda to exploit our already drained pockets. While we wait and observe what will be the Legislature’s position on this budget, government must focus on efficiently generating revenue by considering innovative schemes to ensure tax is collected effectively and accounted for, while creating jobs and opportunities for young people. As young people, it is imperative that our capacity, and human potential is developed and harnessed properly; government must be held accountable if it cannot do this simple thing. What we want as young people is a government that is considerate of our plights and will work hard to ensure our lives are better and not the opposite as we see with this insensitive government. To all young people , we encourage you to summon your political courage and add your voice to this advocacy. This budget is dangerous to our progress and detrimental to our hopes and aspirations. NABCO: Leadership sends urgent caution to colleagues beneficiaries–READ
NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) 22nd November, 2021 DO NOT BE INCITED TO INDULGE IN ANY POLITICALLY DRIVEN ACTION PRETEXTING ON FIGHTING FOR NABCO TRAINEES. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ In lieu of the current tension premised on the expiration of the three-year NABCO tenure, it appears some politically motivated pressure groups are leveraging on the state of affairs for their political gains. NABTAG has sighted a flyer on a supposed Press Conference with the caption “Fix the Country in Collaboration with NABCO Trainees”. Clearly, we can lay hold on the fact that the individuals pushing this agenda are running on political influence. Not many days past, the National Secretariat released a circular directing trainees to remain at post as to serve government the latitude to work on possible ways of permanenting them. What is more, anterior to this directive, the president of the Republic has assured trainees on different occasions the readiness of his government to find a sustainable career path for the current cohort of NABCO beneficiaries. All of these arrangements prove government’s commitment to tackling unemployment. It will amount to sheer politics for any pressure group to overlook the efforts being put into finding a suitable exit pathway for NABCO trainees. Government has not neglected the youth in any way. Taking the reasoning far from politics as the pressing issue stages a critical social concern, the present government has comparatively outscored previous governments in instituting measures to mitigate unemployment. The least probability, provided there could, for NABCO trainees to register their displeasure will not so be done in collaboration with Fix the Country Movement. This only serves as a proof that the individuals behind this unfortunate agenda, who have persistently tagged NABTAG as a political association working in favor of the Akufo Addo-led government are themselves pursuing a political motive by capitalizing on the state of affairs. We do admit the troubling issues on fair grounds but we have to objectively examine inclusively the mandate of NABCO and score its achievement. Why must we reduce everything to the challenges and not the many other benefits? We would like to use this avenue to stage our displeasure over the delay in the payment of stipends for September and October. We humbly ask that management steps up its feet to effect payment in the course of the week to enable trainees undertake their daily work routines. Let us be patient and follow due processes instituted by government to chart the course of securing the future of the youth. NABTAG will not relent in its effort to follow-up with management through to the realization of the common goal. Payment validation for November will follow suit in the course of time. Trainees should stick to directives from their District Coordinators regarding validation. Do not indulge in any politically motivated action purposed at sabotaging the good work of government.
