Breaking News: Bulldog in dangerous accident
Artiste manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog has been involved in an accident at the Adabraka junction in Accra. The accident led to the side of Bulldog’s expensive vehicle being mangled but he survived unhurt. Unconfirmed reports available to GhanaXtra.Com indicate that the accident was as a result of reckless driving on the part of another driver. Watch the video below
President Akufo-Addo must rank very high on the global league of the most insensitive and heartless leaders– Okudzeto Ablakwa
Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has alleged that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo still seeks to impose even more draconian taxes to enable him keep financing his extravagant lifestyle. In a Facebook post, the former Deputy Education Minister said, President Akufo-Addo “…must rank very high on the global league of the most insensitive and heartless leaders” The opposition and Ghanaians since after the 2022 budget have registered displeasure with the introduction of e-levy, which is a 1.75 percent tax on all e-transactions which include banking and mobile money transactions. “A President who refuses to account for his profligate, sybaritic travels and still seeks to impose even more draconian taxes so he can keep financing his extravagant lifestyle must rank very high on the global league of the most insensitive and heartless leaders. Can JM’s credentials measure up to that of Dr. Duffuor?–NDC Dela Coffie questioned
Dela Coffie writes: It’s time for the NDC to rethink and reshape perceptions I’ve had a pretty interesting night online, just checking out reactions on the poster released for Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s intended “GHANAIAN DREAM” economic lecture under the auspices of the Institute of Fiscal Studies on the 29th of November 2021. One of the more vociferous Mahama frontmen, showed himself in his true colours by questioning Dr. Duffuor’s competence. He claims Dr. Duffuor oversaw the mismanagement of depositors funds leading to the collapse of Unibank. Another comment – from a moderate this time – calls Duffuor the foulest of expletives and claims he’s too old to lead the party like the NDC. Oh yes, the cult followers of Mahama have ramped up their attacks on Dr. Duffuor simply because he has chosen to organise a lecture and to speak to matters of national concerns. Ridiculous spectacle, huh? Frankly, I’m enjoying the snarling from these guys who just can’t take the beating Dr. Duffuor’s recent outings are inflicting upon their sense of entitlement and preening self-regard. Indeed, I’m getting the distinct impression that the imminent announcement by Dr. Duffuor of his presidential bid is driving the Mahama camp over the edge -He’s officially not in any contest and yet his public appearances are causing fear and panic among the followers of Mahama. These guys appear convinced of Dr. Duffuor’s value in their own commentaries but they are not smart enough to realise that the whole Unibank saga was a political witch hunt which is not even flying in court of law. That leads to the threshold question of why these Mahama henchmen are so coy and reticent about a man armed with just good intentions, and have answers capable of remedying a damnable NDC that has almost lost its bearing under Mahama? Again, what makes them think they can take down a man whose credentials are as tall as a giant? I mean, in comparative terms, can JM’s credentials measure up to that of Dr. Duffuor? Regarding the state of NDC, how can the opposition to Duffuor say he is too old and can’t win, when a young and agile Mahama has lost two general elections? Isn’t it as obvious to these guys as it is to me that Mahama has failed to prove himself as a leader, and that he’s out of the question and reckoning for the presidency? The man has been president, and he led the NDC from government into opposition. Does he have any redeeming qualities to offer anything new? No, I cannot think of anything. Which is why it’s of no use sidetracking some of the best brains in the NDC all in an attempt to impose Mahama on the party. My point is, it’s all very well saying Duffuor is old and will probably not win against Mahama, maybe he will not, but what is certain is that those seeking to oppose his presidential bid have actually lost two elections on the trot and show no signs of improving, so why not take a gamble and try something different? The NDC members who three years from now would be licking their wounds and asking themselves “what went wrong” must instead ask themselves that question now while there’s still some time to do something about it. So clearly, for the good of the NDC, those elements obstructing Dr Duffuor should decide whether they want to continue with the sniping, the bitching and quibbling over minutiae – which seems to be their favourite pastime. Admittedly, there is a serious problem within the NDC. If you were being kind, you would call it blind unquestioning loyalty or, kinder still, the ostrich mentality. Those of us who aren’t sucked in by the cult of Mahama need to do all we can to fight it. And in all this, I think an element of waking up and smelling the coffee would appear to be in order for those who ought to know better. In the meantime, I’m hanging on to the slim hope that when, eventually, people wake up to the grim reality of the NDC situation, it won’t be late in the day. We can’t be faced with an open goal and yet be doing everything possible to score an own goal. I shall be back. Adaklu MP wants John Boadu dragged before privileges c’ttee for insulting Bagbin
The Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has urged Parliament to haul General Secretary of the governing NPP John Boadu before the privileges over his insulting comments against the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin. John Boadu in addressing party members at Mankesim stated the speaker is suffering from an inferiority complex. “The Speaker talks anyhow, now he even says he can remove the president but the president cannot remove him. He has forgotten that even if the president will be impeached he as a Speaker doesn’t have a vote but he is just boasting. “I don’t know what is wrong with him, he has [inferiority] complex, he is overwhelmed by his current status so sometimes he says things that do not make sense but we have to indulge him,” Mr Boadu said. The comments follow concerns raised by the speaker about poor budgetary allocation to the legislature. Mr Boadu also cheekily asked the speaker to personally collect road tolls following his directive to the roads Minister to withdraw the announcement ending the collection of road tolls. Senior Presidential advisor Yaw Osafo Maafo has also described the speaker as ignorant in asking the roads minister to withdraw his directive. Yaw Buaben Asamoa, National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has admonished Ghanaians to welcome the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) read by Finance Minister. Mr. Asamoa is optimistic that, the E-Levy read out by Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta during the 2022 Budget week ago will provide a reliable source of income, which will help to execute massive developments across the country. “You will now find a reliable source of income towards public growth…, a reliable way of delivering goods and also especially delivering roads. It helps with delivery of hospitals, reliable way of supporting our security services, essentially all the things that are public goods that individuals cannot provide but the government must. “Things which do not bring immediate profits but need heavy investment especially infrastructure,” Buaben Asamoa said while engaging the media in the Western Region on the 2022 budget. However, Mr. Asamoa believes the E-Levy will be the savior of Ghanaians and will see the country depart from petrol politics where levies are always imposed on the public through the increase of fuel. “it E-Levy gives us the opportunity to depart from the old petrol politics. All the political parties who have governed this country in the 4th Republic have focused on petroleum as a source of taxing. Indeed, there was a time when all you have to do for a budget was to announce an increase in petrol prices and everybody else will increase their prices. “This has persisted. Minority claiming they won’t approve 2022 budget, is a demonstration of Immaturity—Nana Obiri Boahen
The National Deputy Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Obiri Boahen has described Minority protest of not going to approve the 2022 budget read by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a ‘demonstration of Immaturity’. According to the private legal practitioner, is pre-mature for the minority to say they won’t approve the budget when they have not discussed and debated it on the floor of parliament.
