Reshuffle Amoako-Atta, Ofori-Atta, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu–Jantuah to Akufo-Addo
A social commentator and legal practitioner Kwame Jantuah has called on President Akufo-Addo to reshuffle some of his ministers that have not proven to be competent. Those among the ministers he mentioned were Finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Roads and Highways Minister Kwasi Amoako-atta, the Minister of Health, and a few others as ministers who should be reshuffled following the incompetence. “I do not understand why we have a government and there has not been one reshuffle. I do not understand it. Are we trying to say all the government appointees have done a good job, is that what we are saying?” he question. According to Mr. Jantuah, he expected President Akufo-Addo to emulate his predecessor, the first President to come from the NPP, President John Agyekum Kuffour. “What did he do, he did reshuffle and he told some Ministers I run this government and I’m moving you here. If you don’t want, leave.” “I think if for nothing, the Minister for Roads and Highways should go, Ministry of Health, I think the Finance Minister should be moved. If you do a poll on Ghanaians they will say that he hasn’t been able to handle the Ministry that well,”. He pointed, that one good example has to do with the introduction of the controversial E-levy by Mr. Ofori-Atta. “He Ofori-Atta did not consult anybody, no consultation with stakeholders, no consultation with opposition parties then you brought it. UER: Minister task teachers, chiefs, opinion leaders and youth to launch crusade against anti-social tendencies
The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu has called on chiefs, teachers’ opinion leaders and youth across the region to launch a crusade against anti-social tendencies in their towns and communities. The Minister made the call when addressing congregation at the 65th Independence Day celebration in Navrongo under the theme “Working together, bouncing back better”. According to Mr. Yakubu, cleanliness they say, is next to godliness. According to the Regional Minister who appeared so worried current filth situation in the region, he said filth is affecting the development of the region because resources meant for development are mostly channel to treat preventable diseases associated with filth. “Our cities, towns and villages are all engulfed in filth resulting in the occurrence of diseases such as cholera, malaria and other associated diseases. All these diseases which constitute a threat to our lives can be avoided if we keep our environment clean. I, therefore, wish to make a clarion call on all our teachers, chiefs, opinion leaders and the youth to launch a crusade against these anti-social tendencies that can derail our peace for development,” he said. On the other hand, Mr. Yakubu also cautions youth in the region to be mindful in using social media to avoid creating fear and panic in the region. I cannot create Progressive and prosperous Ghana alone–President Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said, he will not renege on his pledge to help create progressive and prosperous Ghana but, he cannot do it alone. According to President Akufo-Addo, he needs the backing of each and every Ghanaian, “if we are to bounce back together and build a Ghana beyond aid”. The President made the plea at Cape Coast, Central Region on Sunday, 6 March 2022. The President remembered how “our forebears worked together with the belief that Ghana, once free and independent, could make her own unique contribution to the growth of world civilization and be able to generate wealth and prosperity for the masses of her people”. “They forebears put away ethnic, political and religious affiliations and came together to work for the liberation of the Gold Coast from colonial and imperial domination”, Mr. Akufo-Addo explained that each of them contributed their quota toward a free, independent Ghana in which we now live”. “All of us gathered here and millions out there – inside our borders and outside – share this love for the place we call home”. “When we make wrong choices, we must act to set things right” and “when those put in charge of running affairs get it wrong, we must have the courage to say so”. “That is our patriotic duty and calling.
