The Executive Director for Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), Bismark Adongo Ayorogo has said, the only solution left for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to resign from office, is to mobilize the over 30 million suffering Ghanaians to the Jubilee house. Mr. Ayorogo who was sharing his expectation with Apexnewgh.com said, in 2016 unemployment rate in Ghana was 5.3 to 5.4% but today, the unemployment rate has increased to 13.5%. He said, “nobody should waste his or her time thinking that things will get better under the leadership of Nana Addo. He has milked the cow and finished milking and now nothing is coming and he is still milking the cow”. However, Mr. Ayorogo believes the only solution left is to mobilize over 30 million Ghanaians including Persons with Disability to the Jubilee house to cry their heart out. “Maybe we as Ghanaians should always mobilize and go to the Jubilee house, he few that are ruling us, they are not even up to 200,000 but if the over 30 million of us will mobilize with women and children at their back, with Persons with Disability, we gather and go kneel at Jubilee house and cry 24/7. Maybe that is the only thing that can move this man out of the place”. Meanwhile, He also believes that there are credible hands to lead the country of Ghana successfully. “I just think that there are people in Ghana with fine brains perhaps some are even in the NPP that can lead this country, the country deserves better, we can’t continue like this”. GHS22bn worth of new money printed by gov’t without approval of Parliament – Minority
The Minority Parliament has registered dissatisfaction about the government’s support to the Bank of Government (BoG) to print more money without parliament’s approval. According to the Minority led by Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson, between the periods of January 2022 to June 2022 the BoG has printed an amount of GHS 22 billion on the orders of the government and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson raised the issue at a press conference after the Mid–Year Budget Review was delivered by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Monday, 25 July 2022. He noted that no wonder inflation is galloping and Ghana’s reserve dwindling under the watch of the managers of the economy. Mr. Forson was of the view that this was gross illegality committed by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison. He said the records indicate that the government has encouraged the BoG to print an amount of GHS 48 million and GHS22 billion respectively without due process. MID YEAR BUDGET: There will be no NABCO after September 1–Ken Ofori-Atta
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has said, one of the government’s flagship programme NABCO will come to an end September 2022. Addressing Parliament while delivering the Mid-Year Budget Review on Monday, 25 July 2022, Mr Ofori-Atta said “Mr. Speaker, our iconic National Builder’s Corps (NaBCo) programme, which was initially to run for three years and extended for an additional year, will be completed by 1st September 2022. The Programme- which engaged a 100,000 young graduates, has prepared thousands of them for the world of work. So far we have invested approximately GH¢2.2 billion. As they exit, the current cohort on the programme are encouraged to take advantage of the YouStart initiative and other existing programmes in our drive to build an Entrepreneurial Nation”. He stated He said, “Government’s policy is to support dynamic young entrepreneur’s access training and funds to build their businesses and become a significant pool of job providers for their fellow young people. Meanwhile, beneficiaries of NABCO have not received their stipends for over 8 months after government directs them to stay at post. We are not expecting anything better from Finance Minister– Navrongo MP
Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, said they are not expecting anything better from the Finance Minister Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta. The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, will appear before Parliament today to lay before the House the Mid-Year Budget Review of the Economic Policy of the Government and Supplementary Estimates for the 2022 fiscal year. Today’s presentation, pursuant to the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), will see the minister provide information on how revenue and expenditure had performed in the first half of the year, the country’s current budget deficit figures and projections for the next six months. Meanwhile, the MP for Navrongo Central has no hope for the yet-to-be Mid Year Budget. He said, “Because of where we are now, we are not expecting anything better from him apart from probably if they finalized their program with IMF”. Adding that, “We have got to a crossroads to go and look for a bailout somewhere. I am not even sure we have a budget now until we see what the IMF has for us”.
