A former member of the Upper East Regional Communication Team Wilson Dabuo has allegedly questioned the whereabouts of phones he claimed were given to the newly appointed Regional Communication Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Ayinbisa two months ago for onward distribution to party Communicators. His post on Meta dated August 26, 2022, said: “From the grapevine, about two months ago, some number of phones were received in Accra by Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga for onward distribution to the Communicators of the Region. It is been long expected that the phones should have been given out by now but no one seems to have an idea of the phones’ whereabouts. An Avoidable Bad Omen. “You are the problem of Bongo” were the Presisdent’s disapproving response to Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, the embattled Regional Communications Director of the NPP Upper East Region. His greetings to the Present were repugnant and repulsive as the President could not pretend about his hide-and-seek games in the District. At the President’s recent working visit to the Region, it was manifestly clear that the President was not happy with happenings in the Region and disappointingly, his facial expressions could not have been moderated at the sight of those who were deemed as the troublemakers in NPP in the Region. One of such obviously was the perpetual self-seeking Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga. The President could not hide his bad feelings about Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga’s manoeuvres in the Bongo District and his extended criminality into the Region. As though the President’s disappointments on him were not enough he send some of the Bongo Constituency Executives under the leadership of the Constituency Chairman to meet with the Local Government Minister to discuss possibilities for the removal of the current Bongo DCE. They were to tell the Minister that until the DCE was removed there was no way they, the Bongo Constituency Executives and Communicators could win the Bongo seat.The Minister however was much more smarter than the team who met him and they made a fool of themselves after a demonstrated defection of their intent. Again, At a recent attempt to remove the DCE, sent an Executive Committee representation led by Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga himslef to Accra to meet with the Vice President on account of plans to get rid of the Bongo DCE. They have since returned without meeting with the Vice President after several days of negotiations to see him. They left shamelessly back to Bolgatanga Region. The question I dare ask at this point is why is Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga so helpless and restless in the current DCE’s position? What is the DCE doing right that they don’t like? The above notwithstanding, Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga has now become a new-normal of a problem in the Region’s Communication Team of the NPP. I have always maintained that as much as politics is business, when your work and sacrifices have gone unrecognized, were you an unalligned party fellow, would have been much ideal. Some time ago, I wrote about the deteriorating plights of the NPP Upper East Region’s Communication team and was faced with denial and name-calling. I am happy however that things have relatively changed in spite of those cooked up denials as party’s leadership saw the need to intervene. The problem however seems to be resurfacing with Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga being put in charge. The starlings have soon began. From the grapevine, about two months ago, some number of phones were received in Accra by Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga for onward distribution to the Communicators of the Region. It is been long expected that the phones should have been given out by now but no one seems to have an idea of the phones’ whereabouts. Can Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga tell us all where these phones are and why the Communicators have not known about them all these days? Lastly, it is strite knowledge that no striking union has ever been denied their monthly payments in this country no matter the longevity of the strike. In the case of the NPP Upper East Region’s Communication team, since they went on their sit-down strike to register their displeasure in the appointment of Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga as Director of Communications, they have been denied without a reason, their monthly stipends. Can Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga tell us when the Communicators are to have their share of the ghc30,000 which is in his personal accounts? The money is their due and cannot be idled in your account while the Communicators are languishing in these hard times. MD of ARB Apex Bank Paid a Working Visit To Upper East Association of Rural Banks
Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank Mr. Alex Kwasi Awuah has paid a working visit to the Upper East Region Chapter of the Association of Rural Banks. According to the MD, the purpose of his coming is to introduce to them the key highlights of the bank’s strategic plan from 2022 to 2025 which will need the rural banks as the major stakeholder of the ARB-APEX Bank. He said: “Knowing the strategic plan is about its objectives and what the expectations are. The key thing is the next strategic period of 5 years. At our annual general meeting recently, we announced that the BoG has approved for us to be introduced to the Euro banks who are our shareholders a capital subscription of Twenty-five Million Ghana Cedis (Ghc 25million), Five million Ghana cedis each year (Ghc 5 million) and we needed to come down do a sensitization for them to know the content of the strategic plan and the stages that will inure to the benefit as far as improving their services and operations are concerned”. “As a bank, there is a need for us to improve the financial position of the bank i.e, the capital requisite position of the bank, which will mean that they contribute additional capital for us to increase our present stated capital of Ghc 9 million and add Ghc 25million to it in the next 5 year period. So, is all in the interest of the Apex bank and the rural banks in the sense that we believe that when ARB-APEX Bank is transformed and made stronger, it will respond to the needs and expectations, and service needs of the rural banks, and we can together play a major role in the financial services industry of Ghana”. Mr. Awuah stressed However, responding to some of the challenges affecting their banking activity, Mr. Awuah pointed out the continuous rise in interest rates. He said, mobilizing funds at high-interest rates will not allow banks to lend to customers at a lower rate. “So, it is a conversation we need to have so that from where we operate, we can price well so that as many people as possible will come to accept the financial services. Finance inclusion, and expanding it, is the basic objective, and the key objective of the government of Ghana, and from where we operate, we also see it as a duty to do that. We can expand financial institutions when financial services are made affordable and I believe that if the economic environment improves, that should be possible for us to bring the rate down so that our people can also assess credit at an affordable rate. He said However, Mr. Azaabi Cletus President of the Association of Rural Banks Upper East Chapter expressed satisfaction with the working visit by the Managing Director of ARB Apex Bank Mr. Alex Kwasi Awuah to them the Upper East Chapter. He said the MD visit to discuss issues regarding ARB-APEX Bank and the Rural and Community Banks in the Chapter is a good move. “As a new MD, there is a new strategic plan that has been developed and he needed to communicate that plan to the grassroots, so that the Rural and Community bank within the area can also infuse their strategic objectives to that of the bigger banks, to enable some level of synergy within the industry”. The New Patriotic Party has released a list of new appointees to serve in various deputorial and directorship capacities at the executive level of the party. Contained in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, it lists 29 names for the various executive positions of the party. Some of the notable names are Evans Nimako as Director of Research and Elections, Richard Ahiagbah as Director of Communications, and Dan Botwe as the Director of Campaign Strategy. “Pursuant to Articles 10 and 15 of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constitution, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, at its meeting held on Friday, August 26, 2022, appointed the following persons to serve as Deputy National Executives of the party,” the statement read in part. UER: REGSEC Chair Commissions Office Edifice For Ghana Police Service
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon Stephen Yakubu Thursday, commissioned an office edifice for the Bolgatanga Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service in the Bolgatanga Municipality. The eight-room office building has six toilet facilities and a canteen for personnel, who hitherto managed to carry out their duties in a three-room office space which was expanded through the initiative of the former Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr. Gariba Sayibu Padi who solicited support from members of the public for the expansion project. Apart from the expansion, the edifice was fitted with modern interior decorations, air-conditioners, office desks and modern communication gadgets. At a ceremony to commission the facility, Hon. Yakubu appealed to the residents and the media to help fight the emerging crimes in the region, “Just a week or two ago, criminals have started criminal activities. “Four have been arrested, and security personnel are on their heels for others. l can assure you that Bolgatanga will soon return to its normal state,” the Minister, who is also the Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) assured. The REGSEC Chair further urged residents to be on alert for the threat of Jihadits’ owing to the Region’s proximity to other countries. He said the government was working to resource all the security agencies, especially the Police Service with the necessary logistics, adding that 183 specialized trained officers of the Service would soon be deployed to complement the efforts of officers in the Region. Hon. Yakubu commended DCOP Dr. Padi for the initiative and the benevolence of philanthropists who supported the completion and furnishing of the edifice and continued to appeal to members of the public to extend support to the Police to provide the needed maximum security in the region. The Bolgatanga Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dela Dzansi said the old structure and its obsolete equipment demoralized the officers, and indicated that the moral of the personnel was high with the new facility. The Commander also expressed gratitude to all who supported the expansion work and appealed for more support for the Service to enable them to deliver on their mandate.
