President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made the decision to dismiss 24 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from their positions as representatives of the President at the district level. This action, which was announced in a statement signed by President Akufo-Addo on February 2nd, 2024, is in line with Article 243 (3) (b) of the constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014 (Act 936). Among those affected by this decision is Tahiru Issahaku Ahmed, who previously held the position of District Chief Executive for Bawku West. Mr. Ahmed was known for his good interpersonal skills and was well-liked by party executives and grassroots supporters. He had extensive experience in public sector administration, having previously served as Upper East Regional Chairman, Regional Vice Chairman, and Constituency Secretary of the party. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has dismissed 24 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from their positions as representatives of the President at the district level. This decision was announced in a statement signed by President Akufo-Addo on February 2nd, 2024. According to the statement, the revocation of their appointments is in accordance with Article 243 (3) (b) of the constitution and Section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014 (Act 936). Among those dismissed is David Akologo Amoah, who served as the District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East. Mr. Amoah’s appointment was endorsed by the Bolgatanga East District Assembly in the Upper East Region with a unanimous vote of 100 percent. Prior to his appointment, he held the position of Constituency Chairman for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bolgatanga East. Upon his election as the new DCE, Mr. Amoah received enthusiastic support from a crowd of supporters who gathered at the Assembly premises. Bolga Airport: John Mahama Promises To Get Airport For The Region

He recounted the previous efforts made during his presidency, including acquiring a piece of land and inspecting it in preparation for the airport’s construction. I have heard some moves to activate it using a private company because they also need it their operations and if NDC come to power, is something we will continue and make sure Upper East Region gets a good airport. So that we can fly directly from anywhere. Unfortunately, due to changes in government, the project did not come to fruition. However, Mahama disclosed that he recently learned of new developments to activate the airport plans in collaboration with a private company.
