On behalf of SOCO, Samuel Larbi Agyarko, the SOCO Zonal Coordinator for the Upper East and North East Region, presented 164 motorbikes to the Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu. These motorbikes are intended to be distributed to the 15 Municipal, Metropolitan and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the region. Apexnewsgh.com report

“We have received a total of 164 motorbikes, and I would like to present them to the Regional Minister on behalf of the SOCO Zonal Office. The Minister will then distribute them to the respective MMDCEs,” stated Mr. Agyarko.

Upon receiving the motorbikes, the Regional Minister explained that they have organized them into clusters, with each cluster having two facilitators.

“The role of these facilitators is to visit the districts within their cluster and ensure effective monitoring of the programs being implemented. They will ensure that the right things are being done,” he elaborated.

Handing over motorbike to the Regional Minister

Upon receiving the motorbikes, the Regional Minister explained that they have organized them into clusters, with each cluster having two facilitators.

“The role of these facilitators is to visit the districts within their cluster and ensure effective monitoring of the programs being implemented. They will ensure that the right things are being done,” he elaborated.

He emphasized that right from the day, these facilitators will make sure that the contractor is doing the right thing. The district will monitor, the region will monitor, RCC will monitor and the zonal coordinator. He stressed

Minister handing over the motorbike to the MMDCEs

The Minister further emphasized the importance of the SOCO projects being conducted in different districts, stating that they are necessary for the well-being of the people. He commended the government for initiating these projects and stated that they are not politically motivated, but rather a means for President Nana Addo to positively impact people’s lives.

He also mentioned that around 132 community facilitators have been employed for these projects. These facilitators will receive monthly payments, as well as be provided with a motorbike and laptop. They have undergone training to develop the necessary skills for their roles.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kassena Nankana West, Gerard Ataogye, expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for providing the motorbikes. On behalf of his fellow DCEs, Mr. Ataogye assured continuous support for the SOCO project in their respective districts.

He referred to the motorbikes as a game changer and stressed that the DCEs will put an eye on these motorbikes just as they have been monitoring projects at the district level.

The project is expected to reach over 4,600 border-zone communities across the northern Gulf of Guinea sub-region and in Ghana, specifically 48 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in six regions in the north will be direct beneficiaries of the SOCO project.
