North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has fired back at his critics in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and on Parliament’s Appointments Committee, accusing them of cowardice. Apexnewsgh reports

The Foreign Affairs Minister-designate and Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Chairman faced intense grilling during his vetting on January 31, 2025, lasting about four hours.

Ablakwa and NPP Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin engaged in a heated accountability duel, with Ablakwa questioning Afenyo-Markin’s 99-year lease for a land acquired in Winneba. Afenyo-Markin retaliated by querying how Ablakwa paid his dollar rent for his home in Accra’s plush Airport Hills community.

Undeterred, Ablakwa took to Facebook on February 3, asserting his innocence and readiness to face critics. “They had every opportunity to question me during vetting, but they chose to run away,” he said. Ablakwa emphasized that his conviction to protect state funds and foster accountability is being unfairly targeted.

Ablakwa’s resolve remains unwavering, stating, “I shall remain focused on President Mahama’s exciting reset innovations at the Foreign Ministry. For God and Country. Ghana First.” The controversy surrounding Ablakwa’s vetting has sparked intense debate, with many watching to see how the situation unfolds.
