The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a strong stance against misconduct within its ranks, sanctioning 16 officials and members across the Pusiga and Tempane constituencies. Apexnewsgh reports
The disciplinary action follows a series of complaints filed on January 25, 2025, and subsequent hearings conducted by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
At the center of the controversy is Bilgumsey, who was found guilty of exploiting his position to orchestrate a scheme. He has been removed from office and banned indefinitely from holding any party position until he repays the full amount.
According to Upper East Regional NPP Chairman, Lawyer Anthony Namoo, Bilgumsey’s actions brought the party’s name into disrepute.
The disciplinary crackdown has affected 16 other NPP officials and members, who were found guilty of misconduct related to the 2024 general elections. The sanctions include disqualifications from holding party office for periods ranging from three to five years, effective February 20, 2025.
Some of the officials facing stiff penalties include Emmanuel Awinimi Atesiba, Jacob Akazusah, and Musah Awudu, who were removed and banned for five years. Others, like Agbango Jonathan Akugri and Ayaaba Jacob Asaman, received suspensions of three to four years.
However, five members were cleared of all wrongdoing, including Salifu Ibn Adams and Haruna Salam. The Regional Executive Committee endorsed the disciplinary recommendations, and constituency executives have been directed to fill the vacated positions in accordance with party guidelines.
