President Akufo-Addo has made significant changes to the leadership of the Finance Ministry.

Abena Osei-Asare, who previously served as the Deputy Minister for Finance, has been appointed as a Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

Osei-Asare, a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) representing the Atiwa East constituency, will be taking over from Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, who has been appointed as the substantive Finance Minister following the departure of Ken Ofori-Atta. Ofori-Atta served in the role for seven years and two months before stepping down on Tuesday, February 14, 2024.

Additionally, Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng, who was the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Juaboso constituency in the Western North Region, has been appointed as the new Deputy Minister for Finance.

This appointment comes as a result of Abena Osei-Asare’s promotion from the deputy ministerial position to a minister of state within the Finance Ministry. These changes in leadership aim to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the Finance Ministry under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
