Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has launched GoRide, Ghana’s pioneering locally developed ride-hailing mobile application. Apexnewsgh reports
This innovative platform is the result of a collaborative effort between the government and the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), aiming to empower Ghanaian taxi drivers who have faced stiff competition from foreign-owned digital transportation platforms.
GoRide’s mission is to provide local drivers with fairer conditions and a sustainable alternative to international ride-hailing services. With a competitive commission of just 10%, drivers can retain more of their hard-earned money, improving their financial stability and supporting their families.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that GoRide is part of a broader governmental strategy to empower local businesses, restoring dignity to drivers and ensuring they thrive.
The Vice President highlighted the economic benefits of a locally driven platform, noting that GoRide conserves foreign exchange, fosters local wealth, and enhances Ghana’s national economy. Every ride taken on GoRide contributes directly to Ghana’s economy, building a sustainable future for all.
