A leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Pusiga Constituency Mr. George Banbilla Azungah, has said Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot claim the credit for Ghana’s digitization.
Mr. Azungah made the remark on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the induction ceremony of the level 100 students of Gbewa College of Education in Pusiga of the Upper East Region Region.
Addressing the newly inducted TEIN members Gbewa campus chapter, Mr. Azungah asked the student to ignore the almighty touted digitization claim by Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, as far back as 2007, he worked with VRA/NEDCo as the IT manager and they had digitized their billing system, and even digitized their pre-payment collection system such that, even MTN or Vodafone couldn’t penetrate their system.
He encouraged the TEIN members to put more interest in IT because he believes with IT, the NDC will win the 2024 elections, if they are able to collate their results securely from all their branches to the strongroom in Accra.
He added: “What happened to us in 2020 was because, before we could say jack, they have hijacked our network”. He laments
Touching on the current state of the economy, Azungah said Dr. Bawumia claimed they had a solid team and the solid team took Ghana into an ambulance. “
“We needed a focused and transformational leader who can transform our economy for us. But sadly, the Bawumia solid team has disappointed us”.
He said teachers in society are very important because they trained all the prominent personalities across the country and must be taken care of. Adding that unfortunately, today under the Akufo-Addo Administration teachers are rather dying because of hardship.
“Initially Bawumia said teachers are suffering, nurses are suffering. Now teachers are dying, nurses are dying we are not suffering again, we are dying”. He mocked
However, he admonished the newly Inducted TEIN members to contribute their quota by way of speaking to their parents and friends to know that in terms of good and quality leadership, NDC is far better ahead than the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
