Apana Vitus, the Bolgatanga East Youth Organizer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has presented a series of demands to the NDC Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama. These demands highlight the urgent issues facing the youth in the constituency and call for action to address them.
One of the major concerns raised by the Youth Organizer is the lack of opportunities for the youth to discover and develop their talents.
Vitus emphasizes the need for an Astroturf field that can serve as a platform for the youth to showcase their skills. Currently, many young people in the community spend their time in makeshift gathering spots known as “Parliaments,” which symbolize their frustration and unemployment. Vitus urges Mahama to prioritize youth unemployment and take decisive steps to alleviate this pressing issue.
The NDC Youth in Bolga East have put forward a comprehensive list of demands that encompass various aspects of development.
The provision of an Astroturf for the constituency is just one of the demands. In addition, the youth are seeking job creation initiatives to address the high levels of unemployment. They also express the need for increased recruitment of young people into various sectors of the security forces, as they believe there are qualified individuals within the constituency who can contribute effectively.
Meanwhile, the NDC Youth are requesting scholarship packages for studying abroad, recognizing the importance of education in expanding opportunities for the youth. They also stress the significance of irrigation for farming during the dry season by requesting the creation of a dam for this purpose. Additionally, the youth call for empowerment programs for local artisans, such as carpenters, masons, welders, and plumbers, to create employment opportunities.
The NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama, has been presented with a clear set of demands that reflect the aspirations and concerns of the youth in the Bolgatanga East constituency. It remains to be seen how the NDC will respond and whether they will prioritize these issues if they come into power.
