Court Halts 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku Amid Security Concerns

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced that the Bolgatanga District Court has issued an order prohibiting the planning, organisation, and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku.

The court order, handed down on Thursday, September 25, 2025, restrains the president and members of the 2025 Damba Planning Committee from proceeding with any festival-related activities.

REGSEC explained that the decision is aimed at preserving peace and security in Bawku and its surrounding communities, which have experienced ongoing tensions. The court’s directive will remain in effect until further notice, as authorities prioritize stability in the region.
