In an interesting turn of events, Lawyer Issifu Mahmoud , the Parliamentary Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has confidently stated that the current Member of Parliament for Binduri, Mr. Abdulai Abanga, will lose his seat in the upcoming elections.

Lawyer Mahmoud   believes that Abanga should accept this reality and gracefully step aside, as his efforts to secure votes through drilling boreholes in the constituency will not save him.

When asked if he would also prioritize drilling boreholes if elected as Binduri MP, Lawyer Issifu responded affirmatively, stating that borehole provision has been a standard practice among previous MPs in the area. He specifically mentioned a former MP, Ben Noah, who was nicknamed “water king” due to his success in drilling numerous boreholes.

However, Issifu emphasized that while water is essential, there are other crucial aspects that contribute to a meaningful and complete life.

Furthermore, Lawyer Issifu highlighted the lack of constructed roads in Binduri and alleged that the current government in power has failed to bring peace in Bawku.

He questioned whether borehole provision should outweigh rural electrification, noting that had the NDC continued in power from 2016 to 2020, every household in Binduri would have been connected to the national grid.

When asked about any rural electrification efforts under Abdulai Abanga’s tenure, Lawyer Issifu dismissed them as insignificant. He claimed that the work done was merely connecting already set up poles and wiring and accused Abanga of falsely presenting this as his own accomplishment.

According to Issifu, these electrification materials were provided during the NDC’s tenure and are still available, suggesting that Abanga is distributing them for personal gain.

Lawyer Issifu was questioned about his fear of losing the seat to Abanga, to which he confidently replied that not even a trip to heaven would save Abanga from defeat. He went on to question Abanga’s use of buses to bring supporters from Kumasi, hinting at possible corruption in the process. Issifu also mentioned that some executive members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Binduri Constituency are actively campaigning for him and the NDC, although he did not disclose their identities.

Meanwhile, in what promises to be a fiercely contested election, Binduri Constituency residents eagerly await the final outcome and the impact it will have on their representation in Parliament.
