The Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, is set to appear before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) today, August 6, 2025. The summons is linked to an ongoing investigation into procurement breaches and corruption within the company.
Although details surrounding the invitation remain unclear, sources suggest that the OSP is probing procurement-related issues within the GACL. The OSP has been actively investigating state institutions involved in large-scale public procurement, and the GACL has recently come under scrutiny following reports of alleged irregularities in its procurement processes.
The OSP’s investigation has already led to the detention of the immediate past Board Chairman, Paul Adom Otchere. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the MD’s invitation is directly related to those reports. Mrs. Opare was initially expected to appear on Monday, August 4, but that did not happen.
Officials at the Office of the Special Prosecutor have not released an official statement on the matter, and the Ghana Airports Company has also remained silent. The outcome of the investigation and the MD’s appearance before the OSP are eagerly awaited.
