Ghana, Nigeria traders will work in peace – Bagbin declares

Alban Bagbin the Ghana Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has guaranteed that Ghanaian and their neighboring Nigerian traders will work in one accord to help take advantage of the opportunities that exist in the sub-region.

The Speaker made the pronouncement when a six-member delegation from Nigeria visited him in Parliament on Tuesday, 8 June 2021.

Expressing his gratitude for the visit, Speaker Alban Bagbin stated that he is looking forward to meeting the Nigerian Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila for discussions that will inure to the benefit of the two countries.

However, the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner, Gambo Yusuf Hamza appealed to the Ghanaian government to open the borders between Ghana and its neighboring countries for easy movement of goods across the borders.

He spoke also about the high resident permit fees and appealed to the Speaker to help re-examine monies charged for residence permit.

Amb. Hamza said “we plead with government to review them and these would mean more revenue to Ghana since these charges when reviewed will encourage most foreigners”.

The delegation included the Nigerian Consular & Minister for Political and Economic Affairs – Sylvanus Dauda, Head of Chancery – Ibrahim Bolujoto, President-Nigeria Traders Association, Ghana (NUTAG) – Chukwuemeka Nnaji, Stanley Onwobe – Greater Accra Chairman, Nigeria Traders Association, Ghana (NUTAG).
