After seven attempts, Godfred Akolbila, an athlete from Kelbeo in the Upper East Region, has emerged as the winner of Ghana’s strongest contest in 2023. Apexnewsgh.com reported
He faced tough competition from other contenders but persevered to achieve his goal. In an exclusive interview with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com, Akolbila revealed that his motivation for participating in the contest was to become the first winner from his region. He expressed his joy and satisfaction that his dream has finally become a reality.
“I am the first to win it for Upper East Region and that was the goal, that was what I wanted to do for the region and thank God I have done that”. He expressed
At the recently held event at the Obra Spot, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, it was an inspiring sight as Akolbila emerged as the champion for the seventh year in a row. His consistent participation over the years has undoubtedly boosted his confidence and aspirations.
Akolbila’s victory was well-deserved, as he showcased exceptional skills in a series of challenging tasks. These included the Aboboyaa Deadlift, Truck Pull, Superset Bench Press, Jumbo Deadlift, and Giant Tyre Flip.
As the winner of the 2023 contest, Akolbila was generously rewarded. He received a brand-new car, a substantial cash prize of GH¢10,000 cedis, a gold medal, and an impressive 100 bags of Ghacem cement.
Mr. AKolbila has been in his home town Upper East Region for the past week to show his appreciation to his people for their support so far.
