President Nana Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism about Ghana’s inflation rate, stating that it will significantly decrease by the end of this year and further reduce by the end of 2024.
According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the inflation rate stood at 38.1 percent in September. In July 2023, it reached its peak at 43.1 percent but decreased to 40.1 percent in August and continued to decline in September.
During a meeting with the Christian Council of Ghana at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the positive trend in inflation, stating, “The signs are becoming clearer and clearer: the very high rate of inflation that we suffered last year is coming down.” He further projected that by the end of this year, the inflation rate would reach 26.7 percent. Looking ahead, he expressed the goal of bringing it down to 15 percent by the end of next year, ultimately aiming for single-digit inflation.
