As part of his “Resetting Ghana” campaign tour, he took a bold stance against the economic policies of his opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

With an air of determination, Mr. Mahama posed five pressing questions regarding the nation’s economy, criticizing Dr. Bawumia for what he termed as “running away from economic issues.” He reminiscently recalled the time when Dr. Bawumia had presented a staggering 170 questions to then-Vice President Amissah Arthur, urging his rival to confront the current economic challenges faced by the Ghanaian populace.

Later, in Saboba, Mahama continued to rally support by encouraging Ghanaians to rethink their allegiance to President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia. He lamented their failures in keeping promises aimed at safeguarding the public purse, stating, “They promised to protect the public purse, but today, the majority of Ghanaians have fallen below the poverty line.”

His commitment to the welfare of the people was evident as he stressed the need for leadership rooted in honesty and accountability. He outlined a clear vision for Ghana’s recovery, emphasizing the importance of economic expansion, job creation, and good governance.

Mr. Mahama’s strategic economic plan included ambitious initiatives such as a 24-hour economy policy designed to boost productivity and create jobs. He also proposed a ‘Digital Jobs Initiative’ aimed at generating 300,000 skilled job opportunities for the youth. Lastly, he envisioned a resilient governance structure that would leverage technology and innovation to drive progress in the country.

As the December elections draw near, Mahama’s rallying cry resonates deeper than mere politics; it is a plea for responsible leadership and a brighter economic future for all Ghanaians.
