The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the IT system of the Electoral Commission (EC) and is calling for a thorough examination of its vulnerabilities. Apexnewsgh reports
The NDC emphasized the need for a multi-stakeholder and interparty scrutiny of the EC’s IT system to address the vulnerabilities that the EC has acknowledged.
Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, stated in a press release that the EC’s IT system is vulnerable to data manipulation and infiltration by both officials and non-officials who have access to login credentials.
The NDC has accepted the EC’s promise to release the corrected/updated version of the 2024 Provisional Voters Register for scrutiny within one week. Additionally, the NDC welcomes the decision by the Electoral Commission to re-exhibit the updated Provisional Voters’ Register.
The NDC has recommended that the re-exhibition exercise should be conducted both online and offline at the exhibition centers. Moreover, the party is demanding a comprehensive examination of the EC’s IT system by multiple stakeholders and political parties to address the acknowledged vulnerabilities.
The NDC believes that these vulnerabilities could potentially compromise the integrity of the upcoming December 07, 2024 elections if left unaddressed.
