The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made the decision to suspend Alhaji Abdul Hamid, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the NDC in the northern region. The announcement was made through a letter addressed to Mr. Hamid and signed by the General Secretary of the party.

According to the letter, the decision to suspend Mr. Hamid was made following discussions held between national and regional executives in Accra on January 16, 2024. The meeting had also included the Regional Chairman and Regional Secretary.

During the discussions, the FEC was briefed about an alleged assault committed by Mr. Hamid on the Northern Regional Treasurer. As a result, the committee decided to suspend his membership from the NDC pending further investigation and final determination of the matter.

Mr. Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, emphasized in the letter that Mr. Hamid should take note of the suspension and be aware that his membership in the party is temporarily revoked until the issue is resolved. The NDC will proceed with a hearing to gather more information and reach a final decision regarding the matter.

The suspension serves as a serious action taken by the NDC to address the alleged assault incident involving one of its members. It reflects the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding their values.
