Meanwhile, responding to some CSOs within the Upper East Region who expressed their disappointment after President Akufo-Addo visited the region without going to the project scene to witness things for himself.

Mr. Namoo said: “The president came and cut sod and when sod is cut, the work must be at an appreciable level before you go to see how it is.

He went further to say, “When we say Pawlugu multi-purpose dam, the dam was going to construct at Pawlugu. So, they are not seeing any work, but you have to understand that it will be around 20km away from Pawlugu, it will be around Nuu between North East and Talensi that’s where the work will be done. When we have such a project that has huge implications on the environment, there is what we call environmental impact assessment which has to be done. surveyors will have to go and go round and see how the resettlement will be done and what have you”.

“Recently, the Minister for Works and Land was around and you see the mining area they have to resettle some people in that area. So, that is how it is done”.

He said, “Construction of the dam itself doesn’t take much time. But how do resettle the people? These are all international parts of arrangements.

“Another part which we are not all seeing is that the VRA and the people in charge came round in the districts. They were in Binduri, in Garu, Talensi, Nabdam to do what we call environmental impact assessment to explain those whose farm will be affected and how they will be addressed so to that extent work has begun”.

“I pray the project will come out strongly back. He concluded
