Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency in the Upper East Region, has cautioned Mathew Silas Amoah, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, to avoid actions that may lead to questioning by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Speaking to the media after donating GHC 200,000.00 to the District Ghana Health Directorate for the ongoing construction of a maternity ward, Dr. Ayine expressed concerns about Amoah’s approach to politics on radio.
He likened it to Cecilia Dapaah, who is currently under investigation by the OSP for corruption-related offenses following a burglary at her residence where large amounts of money and valuable items went missing.
“The fact that you get up and then you are doing small things, throwing money around, and then you go and sit on the radio and say there is money in politics”.
“ Dr. Ayine is not a corrupt person; I have never taken a bribe, and I have never stolen anybody’s money. I practice law and earn my money. So, if you say there is money in politics and you are going into politics to make money, come and give it to people. What mentality are you planting in the minds of the people in this constituency? That politicians go in and steal money?”
“We don’t have Cecelia Dapaah in NDC; we don’t. So, if he is aspiring to be a Cecelia Dapaah, he should aspire but when they catch him, OSP is waiting for him.” Dr. Ayine stated.
