President Mahama Urges New Envoys to Project Ghana’s Image with Confidence

At a lively orientation programme in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama delivered a stirring message to Ghana’s newly appointed envoys.

As the diplomats prepared to take up their assignments around the world, the President called on them to represent the nation boldly and advance Ghana’s interests on the global stage.

Addressing the gathering, President Mahama underscored that the role of an envoy in today’s world far exceeds traditional diplomacy. “Ambassadorial appointments are no longer reserved for retirees,” he said. “They are required to establish bridgeheads in countries of postings to create opportunities for businesses and, at the same time, facilitate the flow of trade and investment into Ghana.”

He described the appointments as both an honour and a solemn responsibility, urging the new ambassadors and high commissioners to showcase Ghana’s strengths. “Tell Ghana’s story with confidence,  not as a country confronted with challenges, but as a people defined by resilience and determination,” the President encouraged.

The orientation, themed “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda,” brought together the new envoys who will soon represent Ghana in key diplomatic missions across the world. President Mahama’s charge was clear: project Ghana’s image with pride and play an active role in the country’s economic and developmental progress.
