Binduri Member of Parliament Abdulai Abanga (Left) Abdallah Salifu Upper East NDC Regional Communication Officer (Right)
UER: Binduri AstroTurf nicknamed “4 by 4 AstroTurf” by NDC Regional Communication Officer
The Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Abdallah Salifu described the Astro Turf pitch constructed by Binduri Member of Parliament Abdulai Abanga for his people of Binduri as a 4 by 4 Astro Turf. Apexnewsgh.com reports The Regional Communication Officer Abdallah Salifu made the pronouncement during an engagement with Mr. Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com on Sunday, April 30, 2023. “As for what the current MP is doing, what is it? Is it the Astro Turf? That 4 by 4 Astro Turf he is building? An AstroTurf that has no sitting place for spectators? Asking why he described the Astro Turf 4 by 4, he responded, that the Astro Turf has no sitting place to even match officials”. Mr. Abdallah also accused the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing Mr. Abanga of deceiving the people of Binduri by telling them he bought a wreck for the constituency, when the MP knows the wreck is for his personal and private use. He questioned whether the MP after leaving office will hand over the wreck to the people of Binduri. “Is it because he said, he has bought a wreck for the constituency? That wreck he said he bought is for his own personal use, he speaks as if he used the money for the constituency to buy the wreck, and per my check, is his personal wreck and I don’t know if he will leave the wreck for the constituency. When he leaves the sit today, he is going away with his wreck and currently, the wreck is somewhere in the Upper West working. So, is not a wreck that he has used the Common Fund or any of the statutory funds allocated to him as an MP to buy, is his personal wreck and those things will not change anything, whoever emerges as the winner after the primaries between Dr and Lawyer will definitely have a way. He stressed However, when this platform engaged the Binduri MP, Mr. Abanga, he confirmed the Astro Turf project is funded by an agency. Also, confirming whether the wreck belongs to the people of Binduri as alleged or his personal property. Mr. Abanga responded: The wreck is my personal money, as you can see, I didn’t buy a V-8 like the other MPs have got a V-8. I used part of my loan for the V-8 and my personal resources to buy it because I think the Binduri people need water. Water is a very serious need in Binduri. So, I added money to buy the wreck, is my personal property. What Binduri MP is doing is a non-starter, past NPP appointees did same and lost to NDC—Abdallah Salifu
The Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Abdallah Salifu has re-established massive confidence in possibly recapturing the only parliamentary seat captured by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Binduri Constituency. Speaking exclusively to Mr. Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com, the NDC Regional Communication Officer described some of the initiatives embarked so far by the current Binduri Member of Parliament Abdulai Abanga as a non-starter. “If is about what they are doing in that constituency, is a non-starter. In the past, people like Lawyer Kpemka, and Tangoba Abayage who were government appointees just like the current MP for Binduri and people thought picking those seats back from the NPP was going to be a very difficult task but, it turned out to be one of the easiest constituencies we won in 2020”. Explaining what led to their party defeat in 2020 at the Binduri Constituency, he pointed out internal wrangling as the main cause for their defeat”. He explained “Binduri is our stronghold, that our defeat had to do with internal wrangling, that is just all about it. The internal wrangling started from constituency elections and then traveled all the way to the regional election and because we have a very powerful person in Binduri contested also for the regional Chairmanship. So, when he lost, and some of his favorites also lost at the constituency level, it travels to the Parliamentary primary with another candidate and the candidate also lost. So, the anger within them, made them not to work for the NDC. That was why we lost the seat nothing more”. “Currently part of the problem is been resolved and I believe immediately after the primaries, the problem in its entirety will be resolved. You see, they are human beings, they also have reasons and concerns. So, those concerns are been addressed and I believe those concerns will be fully addressed after the primaries, for us to have a very united front in Binduri”. “For the internal wrangling, it happens to both political parties and if you check in the last election our Navrongo candidate was the person who got more votes than President Mahama in Navrongo. “So, it simply tells you that we enjoy some leverage from their internal wrangling and it was all because Kofi Adda died and people thought Madam Tangoba came as an intruder or through the back door to take the seat from them. She is contesting anyway, we here is a contest between Alhaji Abdallah and the current MCE Mr. Joseph Adongo and we are monitoring them closely”.
