Head, Capacity Development West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) Charles Kojo Vandyck has expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Gambibgo Ghana Project. Apexnewsgh.com Reported The Organization headed by the Gambibgo Chief, Sadik Ayine Inusah started a tree planting project in 2004 in his community Gambibgo a community in the Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region. Meanwhile, as a known non-governmental Community-based Organization that is into irrigation, afforestation, and empowerment of men and women who want to do things for themselves. 11 years ago, the Ghana project extended its tree planting to the Kandiga community in the Kesena Nankana East. Currently, the Gambibgo Ghana Project has planted their 11th plantation center and even added a new module that has to do with electric fencing. On Thursday, September 13, 2023, officials from the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) as funding partners decided to visit some locations of the Gambibgo Ghana Project to confirm and witness activities themselves. Asking whether WACSI officials were impressed with the work done so far by the Gambibgo Ghana Project, Mr. Charles Kojo Vandyck, the Head, of Capacity Development WACSI responded: “We have been very impressed because a lot of the things they have shared in their report is what we saw. We even saw more than what was in the report”. “Yes, there is value for money because I have been very impressed with the way they have partnered for example ‘Pumping Is Life’ and they didn’t stop there, they also looked for other sponsors to do this particular program”. “There are very few organizations that are supporting people to develop solar solutions. If we get more people in our communities who can do solar, we don’t have to depend on the national grid because God has blessed us with a lot of sun. So, I think this is a very forward-looking project, I think is good and is good that the Chief himself is pushing it. As you can see, the training was very successful. We are happy with the work they are doing and feel very humble to be part of”. He told the press The Executive Director of Pumping Is Life Yussif Abdul Rahman said their participation with the Gambibgo Ghana Project was basically to build the capacity of the local private sector in the area of electric fencing. According to Mr. Rahman, the essence of it was to make sure that they were able to understand the basis in terms of the theory and the practical. “We have realized that one of the issues regarding fencing has to do with cost and if we are able to make sure that there is a local component in terms of coming with innovation that people can manufacture critical parts locally for the installation of electric fence. He said “The second part has to do with what we call energy consumption. With electric fences, you need an energy source, and looking at the high cost of utilities in the country, we have to come out with an innovative idea and that has to do with using solar energy. So, the electric fence is solar energy-based. Mr. Rahman explained Speaking about the electric fencing, the Executive Director Gambibgo Ghana Project Chief, Sadik Ayine Inusah said the main objective is to use it as a protection for their trees, especially during the dry season. “We have come with a new module of solar electric fencing to protect our trees. You know here, our animals roam freely. So during the dry season, is always difficult to protect our trees. So, we came up with a module to fence by using solar electricity”. We are ending the training today and the training was facilitated by ‘Pumping Is Life’ an Organization Chief Sadik said he has known for several years now and also has partnership programs, especially through the drilling of boreholes in some areas. As a result of such wonderful innovation, which was supported and funded by the WELDE GANZEN FOUNDATION, FRIENDS OF CHRISTOPHER, AND WEST AFRICAN CIVIL SOCIETY INSTITUTE (WACSI), the Gambibgo Ghana Project selected 25 young men across the Upper East Region to train especially on the installation of the solar energy. However, during his speech at the ceremony organized by Gambibgo Ghana Project at the Gambibgo Senior High School on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, Chief Sadik described the training as a successful program. The 25 training participants were awarded certificates after completing the training section.
