The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency and former Deputy Attorney General Dr. Domnic Akuritinga Ayine has said, as far as the issue of Upper East Regional Airport is concerned, the NDC as a party is much more committed to the realization of that project than the NPP. Apexnewsgh.com report The Bolga East legislature set the record straight during an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship development programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Wednesday, October 28, 2022. The Upper East Regional Airport has been in the news over a period following the decisions by political parties and their representatives in and outside the region. First, it was a big problem between two communities in the BONABOTO Zone Sherigu and Sumbrungu quarreling over citing location, which was later partially resolved. Then, when the misunderstanding between the two above communities was about resolving, the Aviation Minister of the blessed memory Mr. Kofi Adda decided to change the location to his constituency in Navrongo. That matter wasn’t resolved until he was removed as Aviation Minister and subsequently met his untimely death. However, sharing his experience and the effort he has made as far as the Upper East Regional Airport is concerned Dr. Ayine gave detailed explanations. He said under the NDC, plans were more advanced; “When we were in office, plans were far advanced for the regional airport to be constructed. When we lost power, Hon. Kofi Adda became Minister of Aviation. I went to him and told him that the plan we had for the regional airport should be continued. He agreed with me but, subsequently when I spoke with him, may God bless his soul, i can’t lie for a dead person. He told me from the ground, it was not going to be good for him if he moved the venue of the airport from Navrongo to Sumbrungu. He said, it was not going to be good for him politically. Dr. Ayine revealed “But I kept urging him and his deputy Mr. Afful, i kept telling them to buy the bullet and go ahead and do as we have planned. He was there for 4 years, he didn’t let a finger because of this political issue he raised and finally, he was removed as Aviation Minister and subsequently met his untimely death”. He explained The Bolga East legislator further explained how he engaged the Transport Minister on the Airport Issue and the response he got. “I have spoken several times to the Transport Minister on the matter and he told me that the Regional Minister is working assiduously on it and the regional minister himself informed me that they have brought two investors one was from Morocco and that they are doing visibility studies to know whether or not it will be wealth wise in investing resources to construct and manage the regional airport on what they called Build Operate and Transfer basis (BOT). That is where we are with the regional airport”. He stated However, Dr. Ayine believes, as far as the Upper East Regional Airport matter is concerned, the NDC as a party is much more committed to the realization of that project than the NPP. “Because this is the sixth year running and not even a sod cutting has taken place as far as the regional airport is concerned”. Judges are insulted by people who know nothing about the law – Justice Apau
A justice of Ghana’s Supreme Court Yaw Apau has bemoaned the situation where judges are insulted in the country. He said persons who insult judges mostly do not know anything about the law or have no idea about the issues before the court. He said this while expressing deep concerns about the utterances of former Deputy Attorney General Dr Dominic Ayine regarding the hearing of the election petition, which the court deemed contemptuous. “Sometimes Judges are insulted by people who know nothing about the law and sometimes [by people] who know nothing about the issue that is before the judge and they talk and insult. “If they are not lawyers, we don’t care, because if you don’t want to be insulted, you cannot be a judge but if you are a lawyer, who knows the law and who knows the procedure and then you talk in a manner that does not speak well of you as a lawyer, it gives opportunity to non lawyers to also talk or say worse things. So that is my advice to you [Ayine] as my brother,” he said. Dr Ayine has apologized to the Court over his contemptuous comments against the justices of the highest court regarding the ongoing election petition hearing. The Supreme Court Monday February 22, 2021 ordered the Bolgatanga East lawmaker to go and retract comments he had publicly made which the court deems contemptuous. This was after he wrote an apology letter to the court. He had earlier said in a media interview that the decision of the Supreme Court not to allow the petitioner reopen his case to subpoena chairperson of the 1st Respondent Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, was “predetermined”. This, the court deemed scandalous and brought contempt charges against Dr. Ayine, a case which was heard Monday. During the hearing, a remorseful looking Dr. Ayine said he had written a letter to the court apologizing for his comments. Counsel for the contemnor Dr. Ayine also pleaded on behalf of his client asking the mercy of the court. The court, in accepting the apology of the contemnor acknowledged the fact he is a senior member of the bar but made the following consequential orders. “We accept the apology of learned counsel for the contemnor, we however order that the contemnor purges his contempt by retracting his scandalous on the very same medium before Thursday, 25th February, 2021, when the court will reconvene. The contempt proceedings is thus adjourned to Thursday, 25th February, 2021″, the ruled. 3news Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Deputy Attorney General first to cast his ballot at Kpikpira SHS
The Deputy Attorney General Lawyer Joseph Kpemka was the first person to cast his ballot in his polling station Kpikpira SHS, as he called on the people of Tempane Constituency to exercise their franchise cordially and peacefully. Speaking to Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen of Apexnewsgh.com after casting his ballot, Lawyer Kpemka said the election isn’t a do or die affair. He sees the contest between him and her contender as a family contest, but noted that one person among them must emerge victorious after the declarations by the Electoral Commission (EC) He believes the people of Tempane Constituency will not let him and the NPP down after the massive projects and development he had brought within the 4 years they offered him in 2016. However, Lawyer Kpemka was bold and frank to say, that whoever win between him and her contender is a victory for the people of Tempane and victory for Ghana, because the person would have won to the glory of God.
