Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, has expressed admiration for Dr. Dominic Ayine’s call for the Speaker to respect the Supreme Court’s decision. He considers it a noble move, especially given Dr. Ayine’s strong reputation for upholding the law. It’s worth noting that Dr. Ayine, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, has been vocal about his concerns regarding the Supreme Court’s decision, even going so far as to criticize the court’s handling of the 2020 election petition. However, Afenyo-Markin’s comments suggest that Dr. Ayine’s call for respect for the Supreme Court’s decision is a positive step towards resolving the issue. Afenyo-Markin also expressed optimism that moderate elements within the NDC will prevail in urging their party members to respect the decision. This development highlights the ongoing tensions between the NDC and the Supreme Court, with some members of the party questioning the court’s authority. Ultimately, the situation remains complex, with various stakeholders weighing in on the matter. Source: Apexnewsgh.com

Dr. Dominic Ayine’s total boreholes commissioned hits 76 today since 2013
The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has officially opened newly constructed boreholes in three communities within his constituency. The communities that have benefited from this project are Pologo Kaborebiisi, Asonge Kunkwa, and Dachio, all located in the Bolgatanga East District. During a media briefing after the commissioning, Dr. Ayine explained that the construction of these boreholes was made possible through his common fund and additional resources. He highlighted the specific challenges faced by the community of Kunkwa, which is heavily populated but lacks adequate access to clean water. Although the constituency had previously provided them with four boreholes, residents in remote sub-communities were still facing difficulties accessing water. They had to cross the Bolga-Bawku road, a busy main road with heavy traffic, including fast-moving cars and motorcycles. Recognizing the dangers posed to the community, especially to women and children who had to cross the road to fetch water, Dr. Ayine made it a priority to ensure direct access to water within the sub-communities. As a result, he commissioned the construction of three boreholes in Pologo Kaborebiisi, Asonge Kunkwa, and Dachio community, greatly improving water accessibility for the residents. Ayine said, this is the 76 boreholes he has commissioned since he took office as an MP for area. “For me, is a question of access to water been a basic human right. So, I have taken water a serious social service, I have taken education very seriously, I have taken health very seriously and these for me is a non-negotiable right we have to ensure the people have access”. Addressing criticisms regarding his performance as the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dr. Dominic Ayine responded by challenging his detractors to present data for a fair comparison. He emphasized that when he assumed office in 2013, President John Dramani Mahama, under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had overseen the construction of 48 boreholes in 48 communities. During his tenure, Dr. Ayine added an additional 30 boreholes, bringing the total to 76, which he highlighted as a significant achievement. Dr. Ayine urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to provide data on the number of boreholes they constructed during their first four years in office and their second term, to enable a fair assessment of their performance. By presenting these figures, he aimed to showcase his commitment to the people of Bolgatanga East and demonstrate his dedication to improving their access to clean water. OSP will catch you, if you aspire to be like Cecilia Dapaah – Dr. Ayine to Mathew Amoah
Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency in the Upper East Region, has cautioned Mathew Silas Amoah, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party, to avoid actions that may lead to questioning by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Speaking to the media after donating GHC 200,000.00 to the District Ghana Health Directorate for the ongoing construction of a maternity ward, Dr. Ayine expressed concerns about Amoah’s approach to politics on radio. He likened it to Cecilia Dapaah, who is currently under investigation by the OSP for corruption-related offenses following a burglary at her residence where large amounts of money and valuable items went missing. “The fact that you get up and then you are doing small things, throwing money around, and then you go and sit on the radio and say there is money in politics”. “ Dr. Ayine is not a corrupt person; I have never taken a bribe, and I have never stolen anybody’s money. I practice law and earn my money. So, if you say there is money in politics and you are going into politics to make money, come and give it to people. What mentality are you planting in the minds of the people in this constituency? That politicians go in and steal money?” “We don’t have Cecelia Dapaah in NDC; we don’t. So, if he is aspiring to be a Cecelia Dapaah, he should aspire but when they catch him, OSP is waiting for him.” Dr. Ayine stated. Upper East Regional Airport: Dr. Dominic Ayine sets record straight with an interesting solution–READ
The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency Dr. Dominic Ayine has made an interesting proposal to citizens from the Upper East region residing both home and abroad regarding the much talked about regional Airport. According to the Bolga East legislator, the construction of the Upper East regional airport cannot be an expensive adventure. During an engagement on Apexnews Ghana’s flagship programme dubbed “SPEAKOUT UPPER EAST REGION” with Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen on Wednesday, October 28, 2022. The MP set the record straight. According to, the other thing people of the region need to also begin to think about is that “we as citizens of the Upper East Region, why are we not thinking about the possibility that we could do this ourselves? He asked Dr. Ayine further explained, that in making the Upper East Regional airport a reality, people of the region could construct it themselves by putting together a company that will allow citizens to buy shares in the company which will generate proceeds for the Regional airport construction. “We could begin to think about putting together a company, letting our own citizens buy shares in the company and we use the proceed to construct the Airport, and those who bought shares in the company will be paid dividends if we make a profit and if it doesn’t make a profit you say well, you have contributed to the development of your region. This is not rocket science” He stressed He further used the Singaporean Bus transit as an example, “It was done in Singapore. The story of a bus transit system in Singapore is very interesting. All that they did was that they incorporated the company and asked ordinary Singaporeans to buy shares and they used the proceeds to buy the buses. So, as we speak now, that bus system is been run on basis of the investment of ordinary Singaporeans”. He, however, advised the region not to rely on the government or MPs for all projects, stressing that citizens from the region living both home and abroad can come together and make the airport a reality. “Let us as a region, put aside our partisan affiliations and say that we want an airport for ourselves. We want to set up a Company and asked our ordinary citizens to buy form in this company shares for One Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc1000.00). Let’s get a very solid Board of Directors, let’s get a very solid management company, and Let us build that Airport through private initiative. If the Ghana Airport wants to team up with those who are going to invest in it fine! If not let’s go ahead and acquire land by paying compensation with what comes in by way of shares subscription and then we can build that Airport”. Appointments Committee approves 22 ministers, eight pending
Twenty-two ministerial nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have been unanimously approved by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Asaase Radio’s parliamentary sources have confirmed. Asaase Radio can also reveal that the committee wants clarification on five others while three may require majority decision via voting on the floor of Parliament. Three on hold According to Asaase Radio’s sources in Parliament and at the Office of the President, the Ministers-designate for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Fisheries, Hawa Koomson, could not get the approval of all 26 members of the Appointments Committee and must secure approval through voting on the floor of Parliament. The sources say, members of the minority side of the Appointments Committee accused Oppong Nkrumah, as being the one who called for a member of the legal team of the petitioner in the ongoing Election 2020 petition, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to be cited for contempt, after Ayine told the media on 16 February 2021, that the Supreme Court has a predetermined agenda to rule in favour of President Akufo-Addo. In the case of the Minister for Food and Agriculture-designate, Kwaku Owusu Afriyie Akoto, members of the Minority side of the Appointments Committee accused him of being arrogant when he appeared before the committee and on that basis, they will not approve of his nomination. On Koomson, the Minority side of the Appointments Committee, are of the opinion that she is not fit for the job. Clarifications on five Information available to Asaase News further suggests that the Minority side of the Appointments Committee will formally communicate to the appropriate authorities to indicate the clarifications they need with regard to the remaining five nominations of President Akufo-Addo. It is believed that on the Roads and Highways portfolio, the clarification they may be seeking has to do with the Tema road contract, before they approve the nominee, Kwesi Amoako-Atta. The approval of the Minister-designate for Communications and Digitization, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, is also on hold because the Minority side says they require some clarification on the closure of some radio stations in the country. The Health Minister-designate, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu‘s appointment, according to our source is on hold because the Minority side of the Appointments Committee say he did not satisfy them with his answers on questions regarding the engagement of Frontier to offer COVID-19 testing services at the airport some time in September 2020. The Agyapa Gold Royalties deal and the answers given by the Minister for Justice and Attorney General-designate, Godfred Yeboah Dame, to questions posed by some members of the Appointments Committee ought to be clarified and to that end, the Attorney General’s nomination is also on hold, one source disclosed. John Peter Amewu, the former Minister for Energy who supervised the PDS deal and has been nominated by the president to serve as the Minister for Railways Development in his second administration, has his approval also on hold. The minority side of the Appointments Committee say they require some clarification on some answers the minister-designate provided during his vetting on the PDS deal.
