Former President John Dramani Mahama has said, National Health Insurance card holders are denied common medicines at various hospitals across the country. According to the report, the National Democratic Congress may win both the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana in the 2024 general polls. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) made the prediction in its latest report released on Friday, April 28, 2023. “The NDC, therefore, stands a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential poll and securing a legislative majority,” EIU noted. Poor governance and economic hardship are largely, the concluding factors for the expected voting patterns. EIU, however, noted that irrespective of who retains power, it expects Ghana’s policy to continue to focus on ensuring macroeconomic stability. The report also captured that the new government will face similar economic challenges its predecessor encountered. “The next parliamentary and presidential elections are due in 2024. Under constitutionally mandated term limits, the incumbent president, Nana Akufo-Addo, cannot run for a third term, and he has pledged to comply. Meanwhile, addressing delegates, during his two days official tour to meet with party delegates in the Upper East ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary primaries on May 13, Mr. Mahama said: “The EIU recently published their outlook for the 2024 election and they predicted that NDC will win the election. This is an Organization that constantly prints predictions and outlooks for different countries and in 2012 they predicted NDC will win, in 2016 they predicted NDC will lose, in 2020, they predicted NPP will win and now, they have predicted that NDC will win in 2024 and so far, their predictions have proved accurate, but the reason why they say NDC will win is because economic mismanagement that is taking place and poor governance. So, the verdict is out there” He stressed “So, Ghanaians say, NDC come for your stone and we know when somebody comes to your house with a stone and say get your stone, it means that you advise them and they didn’t listen and now, they have seen that the advice you gave them was true and so come for your stone NDC”. NDC stands a strong chance of winning the 2024 presidential poll and securing a legislative majority– EIU

Under constitutionally mandated term limits, the incumbent president, Nana Akufo-Addo, cannot run for a third term, and he has pledged to comply. “In early January the trade and industry minister, Alan Kyerematen, resigned and announced his bid to become the NPP’s presidential candidate. We expect the contests to secure the presidential candidacies of both the NPP and the NDC to be highly competitive, with several high-profile figures expected to contend. John Mahama, the former president, launched his campaign to secure the NDC presidential candidacy in March. However, the NDC could also choose to revitalise its prospects with a fresh candidate, such as Kwabena Duffuor, a former finance minister, who has also declared his intention to secure the party candidacy. NPP welcomes EIU report, described it as “constructive analysis”
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially applauded the recent political and economic report by the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), as they described it as a “constructive analysis” According to a statement signed by the Party National Communication Director Yaw Buaben Asamoa: “This is because objective analysis extends the democratic tenet of free speech, and provides perspectives capable of informing policy reform”. The NPP however, acknowledges that the EIU has a record of reviewing Ghana’s governance systems, especially potential political outcomes. “To buttress its prediction of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning the presidential election and the parliamentary elections by a slim margin in 2024, the EIU touts its record of successful predictions over the years.” “If NDC wins, it will not be news. But if the NPP wins, it would be a remarkable achievement that would demonstrate the coming of age of electoral politics in Ghana,”. Yaw Buaben Asamoa said. Meanwhile, the NPP victory in 2024, is targeted on, “Breaking the Eight (8)” would be a more uncommon occurrence than an NDC victory, based on the history of elections in the Fourth Republic. The NPP noted, however, that EIU introduced a “new and significant double-edged factor” into the eight-year cycle, and said this is “the quality of leadership.” The “EIU implies that former President Mahama’s record of leadership is so poor that if he becomes the candidate, the NDC’s predicted win goes up in smoke,”. Pointing that, “this is a huge boost to the NPP’s effort of ‘Breaking the Eight (8) since we are confident that the NPP candidate will have a better governance record based on the cumulative achievements of the NPP in the Fourth Republic.” “But more importantly, NDC has not demonstrated any policy capacity capable of turning out better and faster outcomes in the areas listed. Indeed, the tendency is for the NDC to set the country back in respect of these factors whenever the eight-year cycle kicks in. The NPP builds and the NDC destroys. “Political stability is also a product of the NPP’s quiet yet hard work on the security front. Notwithstanding increased threats of regional instability spilling over into Ghana, piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, and sometimes very extremist talk from anarchic elements, the EIU predicts without hesitation that there will be political stability over the next five years. A plus for free, fair, and violence-free elections,” Yaw Buaben Asamoa said. Apexnewsgh.com/Ghana Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications.
