Contrary to the media reports that the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Engineers & Planners Company Limited, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, has invited the Director of Communications at the Ghana Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah, to his house for ‘brotherly talks’, it has emerged that no such communication has happened between the two. The businessman had secured a court order to empty Ernest Owusu Bempah’s account of GH¢310,000 but only GH¢107,000 was found in his account at National Investment Bank (NIB). “Mr. Mahama who described Ernest Owusu Bempah as his ‘younger brother’ invited him to come home, indicating a sealing of peace and forgiveness from the businessman,” MyNewsGHcom reported. However, Rafik Mahama, Aide to Ibrahim Mahama, is a statement refuted the report saying his boss has not extended any such invitation to Mr. Owusu Bempah. “Kindly disregard the story that went viral today with the headline: “Ibrahim Mahama invites ‘brother’ Owusu Bempah home for tea, pardons payment of GH¢203,000”. There’s no such invitation extended to Owusu Bempah after the apology was issued. An amount of GHC 107,000 has been paid so far with GHC203,000 outstanding. “Mr. Ibrahim Mahama received an official apology from Owusu Bempah and apart from that, no further decision has been taken with regards to the apology from Owusu Bempah and the outstanding amount of GHC 203,000.” The statement copied to Ghanaguardian.com read. Background On March 3, 2018, Ernest Owusu Bempah during a discussion on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsoroma’ morning show, subjected Mr. Ibrahim Mahama to name callings. The Ghana Gas Communication chief angrily blasted Ibrahim Mahama who is direct brother to former President Mahama labeling him as a thief. Following his unsubstantiated allegations, he was subsequently dragged to an Accra High Court by Mr. Mahama for the derogatory and defamatory remarks made against him. Ibrahim Mahama invites ‘brother’ Owusu Bempah home for tea, pardons payment of GH¢203,000
The Director of communications at Ghana Gas Company Limited Ernest Owusu Bempah has reportedly received and accepted an invitation “to come home for tea” from the CEO of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, MyNewsGh.com reports. Mr. Mahama who described Ernest Owusu Bempah as his “younger brother” invited him to come home, indicating a sealing of peace and forgiveness from the businessman. The businessman had secured a court order to empty Ernest Owusu Bempah’s account of GH¢310,000 but only GH¢107,000 was found in his account at NIB. Sources hinted MyNewsGh.com that the generous Ibrahim Mahama who “didn’t actually need the GH¢310,000 for anything” pardoned Ernest Owusu Bempah from paying the balance. This is yet to be confirmed though. All this comes after Owusu Bempah placed a call to apologise to the businessman after issuing out an official apology as well to the magnanimous businessman who in 2018, the business mogul sued along with the Despite Group of Companies, operators of UTV for defaming him. On March 3, 2018, the Ghana Gas Communication boss made a statement on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsoroma’ show that former President Mahama’s brother, Ibrahim is a thief. However, in his apology letter, Mr. Owusu Bempah said, “The statement which I made then was made without any basis and was made without due regard to the hard-earned reputation of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and I ought not to have made same. That statement I made about Mr. Ibrahim Mahama was not true then and is not true now and can never be true and that I have no reason to make the statement.” Mr. Owusu Bempah further said, “Irrespective of how it happened, the facts remain that I should never have made such a statement of Mr Ibrahim Mahama. The statement was clearly derogatory and defamatory of the person and the enviable achievements of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama. I sincerely regret making that statement about him.” MynewsGh Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Contact: 0555568093
Ibrahim Mahama ‘mercilessly’ withdraws last 0.60 pesewas in Owusu Bempah’s account; Momo targeted
Businessman and brother of the former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama who sued and got defamation judgement against Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of Ghana Gas Company Limited has withdrawn the last 60 pesewas in the account of the party communicator, MyNewsGh can confirm. This comes after the National Investment Bank was ordered by the court to pay GH¢310,000 out of Owusu Bempah’s account. The bank, however, issued a cheque with the face value of GH¢107,000 from the account of Ernest Owusu Bempah. In compliance with an order of the bank that should the account have less than GH¢310,000, it should be emptied, the bank was forced to add the last 60 pesewas left in the account. With the payment of GH¢107,000 plus 60 pesewas of the GH¢310,000, Owusu Bempah now has GH¢202,999.40 pesewas to pay Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for defaming him. Momo account and Tema House Although unprecedented, MyNewsGh understands lawyers for Ibrahim Mahama are looking at options in the law to empty the Mobile Money account of Ernest Owusu Bempah to settle the debt. The legal team is bent on frustrating the ruling party top communicator as it is also conducting investigations over the actual ownership of a plush 3-bedroom house Owusu Bempah lives in after he denied ownership. “The claim that I, Ernest Owusu Bempah is pleading with Ibrahim Mahama to have the matter settled behind closed doors is false and very defamatory,” Ernest Bempah had written. “Again, the claim that I have a house in Tema and that it is being sold to defray the cost of the damages is also false. I don’t own any property in Tema and such fiction can only come from the figment of the imagination of a deluded mind” he added. Meanwhile, Ernest Owusu Bempah has announced a decision to take the case to the Supreme Court of Ghana after he lost the appeal he filed last year.
