The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh has bravely stated made his support for Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia very clear. According to Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, his support for Dr. Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary will not change, He challenged the National Council of the party to take back his title if they consider his endorsement unsuitable for his position as Majority Chief Whip. Even though NPP’s rules directed members to desist from openly making an endorsement of any of the flagbearer aspirants, the Deputy Chief Whip is more confident in Dr. Bawumia’s capability ahead of other contenders. He is very confident that Dr. Bawumia has the skill to counter the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) support within the Zongo communities. Mr. Annoh-Dompreh remains unshaken, insisting that his support for Bawumia will continue no matter what, even if others claim he is no longer aligned with the governing New Patriotic Party. The fearless Chief Whip is confident that Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate that stands a better chance of defeating John Dramani Mahama in the northern regions. He, however, revealed, that out of the 138 Members of Parliament (MPs) on the majority side, 120 are solidly behind Vice President Dr. Bawumia to become the Party flagbearer. Mr Annoh-Dompreh also added that it is time for the NPP to remove perception which suggests the NPP is an Akan party. Annoh-Dompreh made a U-turn, apologies after his unnecessary tweet against #FixTheCountry campaigners
Frank Annoh-Dompreh majority Chief Whip has tendered an apology for his unnecessary #FixYourself social media post to the countrymen and women campaigning with the hashtag #FixTheCountry. His post has generated some public outcry indicating that some personalities in high positions don’t care for the plight of the ordinary people on the street who could not afford the current living condition in the country. The Nsawam Adoagyiri MP has, however, made a U-turn as captured below: HON. FRANK ANNOH-DOMPREH WRITES: I would like to apologise for an earlier tweet which failed to convey both seriousness of the times and to capture the essence of what the youth is demanding. Throughout my time in public office, I have always known that collective action and responsibility are important. However, I also believe that ultimate responsibility lies with the hierarchy of government. This is why as MP, I have always strived to use public office to make life better for my constituents. It is also why I cannot, in good conscience, endorse any message of finger-pointing while ignoring the climate of holding the arms of government accountable. In that spirit, I would urge us all to sustain our efforts to demand accountability. I believe in the leadership of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and I’m confident that the responsible and responsive leadership he has displayed since 2017, will prevail. We shall succeed in making Ghana a better place. HON.
