The newly-elected National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has said, he is the most called in the whole of NDC, as he denied the accusation of not making himself accessible to the grassroots which came up as an issue strongly against him in the run-up to the 10th National Congress of the NDC. Speaking on Metro TV monitored by Apexnewsgh.com, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said, “There is no truth about that. I have only one number and you can’t be talking on many phones. People will call you if they believe that you offer solutions and because of that my phone is the most-called in the whole NDC. “Because I provide solutions, things that are to be handled by constituency executives are sometimes brought to my attention. “I’m on more than 3,000 NDC platforms and I don’t know how any human being can follow and post on all these platforms. Because you don’t have the opportunity to explain your side of the story, people always blame you,” he told Metro TV. However, he also adds that as hard as he tries to keep up, he is unable to respond to all calls and texts sent to him. He also denied allegations he has multiple phone numbers. I smelled a rat when i heard they mentioned scrapping of road tolls, i knew something bigger was coming–Asiedu Nketia
Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has ridiculed the 1.75% E-Levy electronic transactions declared by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta during the 2022 budget to parliament. As soon as the 2022 budget is approved by parliament, all electronic transactions across Ghana will be charged. According to the Finance Minister, such move is to help gather revenue in the country. Meanwhile, Ghana recorded a total GHS500 billion from e-transactions in 2020 compared with GHS78 billion in 2016. Mr. Ofori-Atta explained, that government is charging an applicable rate of 1.75% on all electronic transactions covering mobile money payments, bank transfers, merchant payments and inward remittances, which shall be borne by the sender except inward remittances, which will be borne by the recipient. “It is becoming clear there exists an enormous potential to increase tax revenues by bringing into the tax bracket, transactions that could be best defined as being undertaken in the informal economy.” “Mr Speaker, to safeguard efforts being made to enhance financial inclusion and protect the vulnerable, all transactions that add up to GHS100 or less per day, which is approximately GHS3,000 per month, will be exempt from this levy,” he said. “Mr Speaker, this new policy also comes into effect once appropriation is passed from 1st January 2022. The government will work with all industry partners to ensure that their systems and payment platforms are configured to implement the policy,” he said. However, reacting to the step taken by the government, NDC General Secretary said, “…when they mentioned that they are scrapping road tolls, I said that there’s something bigger, something unpleasant that they are bringing on board”, indicating: “MoMo is now the game of the day it penetrates to the rural areas, the unbanked population; they use MoMo, so, if you are taxing that one and you’re rather cancelling road tolls whose incidence falls on vehicle owners, it means that it is not a pro-people budget at all. You don’t maximize revenue at the expense of people who are overtaxed”. Mr. Asiedu Nketia told journalists in parliament after the 2022 budget. Koku Anyidoho is currently before NDC’s disciplinary c’ttee – Asiedu Nketia
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the party’s former Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho is currently answering questions before the disciplinary committee of the main opposition party. He said the committee will advise the party leadership appropriate on the next line of action against Mr Anyidoho when the time is due. Mr Nketia said this in an interview with TV3’s Komla Adom on the Mid Day news Wednesday March 24 after the suspension of former Central Regional Chair of the NDC Allotey Jacobs and another member Stephen Atubiga. “[Koku Anyidoho] is currently before the disciplinary committee. The committee has not reported to us. There is a time limit within which they must finish their work. “The time has not expired yet so we have not had any reason to go back to them. We are expecting them to do a good work and then advise the party leadership on the way forward.” The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the NDC suspended Mr Anyidoho. His suspension letter stated that the petitions from Oti Region’s Communications Officer, Mobarak Abdul-Karim, and Bono Region’s Deputy Communications Officer, Eric Adjei, have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further action. “You are therefore by this letter to take note, and notice is hereby given, that your membership of the NDC is suspended pending the hearing and final determination of the petitions against your conduct,” Mr Asiedu Nketia, who was contested against by Mr Anyidoho at NDC’s last national executive congress, stated in the letter dated Monday, February 8, 2021. Since losing the 2020 elections, Koku Anyidoho has taken to Twitter to make comments that have not gone down well with many members of the party. 3news Please contact Apexnewsgh.com on email apexnewsgh@gmail.com for your credible news publications. Allotey Jacobs fired from the NDC
The Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has been fired from the party. In a press release signed by General Secretary Johnson Aseidu Nketia, the party said that its disciplinary committee found Mr Jacobs guilty of allegations of misconduct and anti party conduct brought against him. “The Committee’s report which is herein attached for your attention, found you guilty of the said allegations of misconduct, anti-party conduct and recommended among other things your immediate expulsion from the party. “The Functional Executive Committee acting in compliance of article 48(1) of the NDC Constitution has unanimously adopted the report and accepts fully its recommendation for your immediate expulsion from the party,” the statement read. The party further stated that Mr Jacobs is no longer recognised as a member of the party neither can he hold himself as such and therefore ask him to return any property belonging to the party that are in his possession. However, reacting to this statement from the party, Mr Allotey Jacobs indicated that before this letter came, he had “already left the party”. He went on further to describe the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and the FEC as “living in a fantasy”. Meanwhile, Mr Allotey Jacobs was suspended from the NDC in 2020 for what the party described then as his persistent anti-party conduct.
